Should Nerlens Noel Play This Season

Hey guys, I have been reading a lot about our young and upcoming center and figured I would write a short fanpost about it.

So, the question remains, should we suit up Nerlens Noel. Their are many Pros and Cons for letting Noel onto the floor so I'll stop wasting time talking about it and just begin.

Pros: The primary reason for letting Nerlens Noel onto the floor this season is obviously to let him get accustomed to the advanced level of basketball played throughout the NBA. In doing so, he would be less of a "rookie" next year and would play much more like a second year player who has somewhat learned the ropes. An additional benefit of letting him get on the floor for a few games would be to build chemistry. Brett Brown has constantly said that keeping Nerlens around and involved with the team has created chemistry already but I completely disagree. I firmly believe that chemistry stems from knowing your teammates tendencies and abilities well. This is the reason that Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobli and Tony Parker work so well together. This is not to say that getting along with your teammates is not a factor (as evidenced by the Kobe-Shaq debacle) but it is MORE important to know the way your teammates play basketball. So, if Nerlens could get on the court with the few Sixers who will be here next year (MCW, Thad, Hollis, Sims City and James Anderson) it would be very beneficial for everyone involved. The third and last reason to get Nerlens out on the floor this season would be for Brett Brown and Sam Hinkie an opportunity to evaluate him and make smarter draft and Free Agency choices this summer. I'm not saying that they don't already know his skill set but it is always better to evaluate someone in live action. A quick additional note, with either an Orlando win or a Sixers loss in any remaining games, we would be either first or second in the lottery and the only way we could receive the glorious 25% chance at Wiggins would be for the Bucks to win at least 2 more games which is looking increasingly unlikely.

Cons: In my opinion, there is only one con, health. If Nerlens is not healthy there is absolutely unequivocally no reason to let him out onto the floor. As of right now the Sixers future is as follows: MCW; Draft Picks; Thad and NOEL; that could be a great foundation to build a team off of but they need every single part of it. I happen to believe after seeing him move around and listening to his interview, over the past few days I fully and whole-heartedly believe that he is 100% ready to step out onto the floor. The last con is the simple fact that it is completely unnecessary for Noel to lace up and get onto the floor. As stated earlier in this article, if either Philly loses or Orlando wins then we are guaranteed at least the second best chance at the lottery so we are essentially locked in where we are right now and there is always a risk for injury when playing a professional sport.

As you can clearly see my Pros outweigh my Cons, but that is my opinion, please comment if you think of anything that might change this list. Also, if you believe he should play, out of curiosity, what game do you think he should debut in.
