Sixers Trade Deadline Review: Evan Turner, Spencer Hawes, Lavoy Allen Out, Picks In

Howard Smith-USA TODAY Sports

You can't pick your friend's nose, but you can stockpile second rounders until the cows come home.

OK. So the Sixers made a whole mess of deals today -- four, to be exact -- and nobody in the NBA was more active than Sam Hinkie once again. The short version of the Trade Deadline is that Evan Turner and Spencer Hawes are gone, while Thaddeus Young stays along with every second round of the NBA Draft for the rest of the decade. I'll attempt to figure out the rest of the fun below.

1. CLEVELAND

Sixers Trade:
Spencer Hawes

Sixers Acquire:
Earl Clark
Henry Sims
Cavaliers 2014 2nd Round Draft Pick
Grizzlies 2014 2nd Round Draft Pick

Summary: Traded a guy who was going to walk in 27 games for two guys on non-guaranteed contracts and two mid-seconds.

2. WASHINGTON/DENVER

Sixers Trade:
Uh, nobody's really sure. Cash considerations? A second round pick that never comes to fruition? The Rights to Ricky Sanchez, perchance? Even the press release doesn't say what they gave up.

Sixers Acquire:
Eric Maynor
Pelicans 2015 2nd Round Draft Pick
Nuggets 2016 2nd Round Draft Pick

Summary: Love being the third team in a trade. Goddamn, I'm still jacked up about it. Considering they traded, well, nothing, this is quite a nice haul that, if not like finding a $20 in your pocket, is like finding $2.50. I'll still take the $2.50.

3. LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS

Sixers Trade:
Conditional 2014 2nd Round Draft Pick (top 55 protected)

Sixers Acquire:
Byron Mullens
2018 2nd Round Draft Pick

Summary: The Sixers' pick will never be remitted, so this is essentially acquiring Mullens for nothing. Hinkie thinks there might be something there, apparently. Clips did it so they could stay under the tax. Can't wait for 2018!

4. INDIANA

Sixers Trade:
Evan Turner
Lavoy Allen

Sixers Acquire:
Danny Granger
Warriors 2015 2nd Round Draft Pick

Summary: While there was a bigger deal being worked at in the waning moments of the deadline (you'll find out tomorrow once we get all this squared away), this was the fallback plan they landed on at the buzzer. Granger is likely to be bought out. Can be summed up as "better than nothing?"

OVERALL

Sixers Trade:
Spencer Hawes
Evan Turner
Lavoy Allen
Conditional 2014 2nd Round Draft Pick (top 55 protected)
$16,339,867 in cap

Sixers Acquire:
Earl Clark
Henry Sims
Eric Maynor
Byron Mullens
Danny Granger
Cavaliers 2014 2nd Round Draft Pick
Grizzlies 2014 2nd Round Draft Pick
Pelicans 2015 2nd Round Draft Pick
Warriors 2015 2nd Round Draft Pick
Nuggets 2016 2nd Round Draft Pick
Clippers 2018 2nd Round Draft Pick
$21,235,695 in cap

DID THE SIXERS MEET THE CAP FLOOR THAT DOESN'T MATTER?

Yes.

ROSTER

What's left? Well, if we assume Granger will not stick with the team, this puts the Sixers at the 15-player limit.

PG: Michael Carter-Williams, Eric Maynor, Lorenzo Brown
SG: James Anderson, Tony Wroten, Elliot Williams, Jason Richardson
SF: Hollis Thompson
PF: Thaddeus Young, Earl Clark, Arnett Moultrie, Brandon Davies
C: Byron Mullens, Henry Sims, Nerlens Noel

Decent chance the Sixers only have 8 active players against Dallas tomorrow night.

And that's your day. We'll have lots more analysis since we haven't, uh, analysised it yet what with all the reporting and clarifying. But now that we know most of what the hell just happened, we can take a second and think about what the fallout is.
