Sixers vs. Jazz Immediate Reaction Thread: 8 Straight Losses and Counting...

Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

At least the Sixers didn't get run out of the gym tonight.

Spoiler alert for those who didn't watch: Tonight's Philadelphia 76ers - Utah Jazz game wasn't the most exciting contest in NBA history...

Even so, it was a fairly competitive affair, especially given the fact that the two teams were a combined 32-71 entering the evening.

Utah wound up scratching and clawing their way to a 105-100 victory as the Sixers were pretty much in the game for all 48 minutes. If Brett Brown wanted to see effort tonight, he got it: A 15-2 run in the fourth quarter ultimately helped the Sixers tie the game at 91 with 2:10 to go.

94 seconds later, Jazz shooting guard Alec Burks (a game-high 26 points) put the finishing touches on a personal 9-0 run, and that's all she wrote (despite the best efforts of James Anderson, who hit three 3-pointers in the span of 14 seconds shortly before the final buzzer).

Derrick Favors only played six minutes tonight due to a right hip strain, but it didn't matter all that much. A sizable portion of his minutes went to Enes Kanter, who finished with a respectable 12 points and seven rebounds.

It likely doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things, but three Sixers who have the best chance to be dealt within the next week all had fairly decent showings. Evan Turner led the Sixers with 21 points, Thaddeus Young chipped in an efficient 19, and Spencer Hawes had a solid 16 points and 11 rebounds.

The Sixers are on holiday until the 18th when they'll kick off a five-game homestand against the Cleveland Cavaliers (who, by the way, have won four in a row). Unfortunately, they're probably stuck in Salt Lake City for a while thanks to Winter Storm Pax.

Not sure what Wonder Woman is going to do in a blizzard, but you might want to give Storm a call.

Full recap coming in the morning. Enjoy the All-Star Break, kids.
