Let me preface this article by stating that I am extremely excited with the direction our franchise is going. With MCW, Noel, Thad, Cap Room and two potential top 12 draft picks (in a loaded draft) I can see the light at the end of the tunnel (albeit the tunnel may span from here to China). With that being said…
Evan Turner could possibly be my most hated sports figure in Philadelphia history--thats right Donovan, Elton, and J.D. For some farcical reason I decided to gut my way through 80% of the Sixers game tonight vs. the Celtics. I don't simply dislike Turner because he has been a huge disappointment as the #2 overall pick, or because he looks like a turtle, or even because he has the voice of a 13 year old jewish boy (he's almost a man!). Above all, I truly despise how he plays the game of basketball. I have never seen a player shoot more contested mid range jump shots (the most inefficient place on the court to shoot the ball). Furthermore, as a career 32% 3-point shooter I don't understand why he shoots 2.5 3's a game (he badly air-balled THREE of them tonight). Turner's on-court demeanor and defense suck; and he is the antithesis of what one would call "a leader."
We needed to lose that game tonight (Celtics also tanking) and "The Villian" (the 76ers twitter page embarassed themselves by calling him that) just ruined my night. This lull period before this trade deadline is miserable, and I think I die a little bit more each day that goes by without solidified trade rumors. Hawes and Turner need to go, and I'm praying Hinkie can pull another first round pick out of the proverbial trade hat. MCW for president. I smoke too much weed.
