Mark Deeks of ShamSports.com reports that the Philadelphia 76ers' have added former Georgetown product Hollis Thompson to their training camp roster.

According to a report from Mark Deeks of ShamSports.com, the Philadelphia 76ers have added guard/forward Hollis Thompson to their training camp roster.

After going unselected in the 2012 NBA Draft, the 6'8" Thompson spent the summer with the Oklahoma City Thunder before being released just before the start of the 2012-13 season. Last October, Thompson signed with the Tulsa 66ers in the NBA Development League, and in 48 games (10 starts), the 206-pound swingman averaged 8.1 points and 3.8 rebounds in 20.1 minutes per game.

This past July, Thompson was on the San Antonio Spurs' roster in the Las Vegas Summer League: In five games (all starts), Thompson averaged 10.2 points and 5.4 rebounds while shooting 48.6 percent from the floor and 45.5 percent from beyond the arc.

By several accounts, Thompson is an NBA-caliber player who excels at doing the little things that can help a team win. Thanks to both his size and his ability to knock down the 3, NBADraft.net likens Thompson to James Jones and Dorell Wright.

In three years at Georgetown, Thompson averaged 8.7 PPG, 4.1 RPG, and never had a season in which he shot worse than 43 percent from long distance. Thompson originally declared for the 2011 NBA Draft, but reconsidered and returned to the Hoyas for his junior season.
