Quotes and Reactions From Brett Brown's Press Conference

Matt Roberts

Brett Brown took to the microphone today, discussing personnel and his first summer as head coach with the Sixers media today.

With Sixers training camp set to open up on Saturday at St. Joseph's University, newly appointed head coach Brett Brown sat down with the Philadelphia media today for the second time since taking the job. Brown was certainly full of good quotes, and brought up some good conversational topics.

Injuries

Sources have expressed to Liberty Ballers that Arnett Moultrie is currently in a walking boot, although the ailment is not believed to be anything too serious. Lavoy Allen also seems to be nursing a leg injury, as he sported a NormaTec Pro Recovery System device (known for helping with muscle recovery) in an Instagram picture early Wednesday. It is currently unknown what is eating at Kwame Brown.

Khalif Wyatt at Point Guard?

The Gary Neal comparison is likely justified, but blatantly labeling Wyatt as a point guard is somewhat surprising. Indeed, Wyatt was the primary ball handler his senior year at Temple, but thrived at the two guard when Juan Fernandez was the Owls starting point guard. Without Fernandez, Wyatt was forced to create his own opportunities with the basketball, and due to his poor ball handling skills, his turnovers went up, and his shooting percentage also went down. Wyatt thrives in catch and shoot opportunities, and although the Sixers are loaded with players at both guard positions, Wyatt would likely be better suited to be as a two guard in the professional ranks.

Evan Turner

While Brown did later go on to praise Turner, this quote doesn't exactly sound like much of a compliment, although it sort of describes exactly who he is as a player. Evan has not been able to come into his own in Philadelphia (despite flashes of brilliance), leaving Sixers fans desiring more throughout his tenure with the team. I hope Brown is able to help take Turner's game to the next step with the Sixers, but I believe he'll be shopped with much vigor at the trade deadline.

Training and Conditioning

Brown's conditioning plans seem Chip Kelly-esque (word to Brandon Gowton). In the dog days of the NBA season, conditioning may be the difference between in a couple tight and important games.

But we don't need to worry about that now. Tank fever, baby. Catch it. Give it to a friend.
