Join me in song my fellow basketball fanatics, for Summer League action hath returned. Your Philadelphia 76ers have been given the great honor of kicking off Orlando Summer League Sunday morning at 9 A.M.
The game can be caught on NBATV, as well as the new Summer League app (free for just scores, but $15 to watch live games). I have high hopes for this year's team, and expect them to boast a record better than their two win team of 2012, even if they no longer have Zack Rosen.
You can see the Sixers final roster here.
I'm especially looking forward to seeing Michael Carter-Williams don a Sixers uniform for the first time. Prior to the draft he spent copious amounts of time correcting his jump shot; he shot less than 40% from the floor at Syracuse this past year. Draft Express did an excellent video on Carter-Williams during his pre-draft workout, and MCW himself discusses in detail about his jumper.
Hopefully that hard work pays off during his week in Florida.
Fellow guard Khalif Wyatt is another name that I'm intrigued to watch. The Temple alum did a lot of ball carrying his Senior year at Temple, but spent prior years playing off ball when Juan Fernandez ran the point for the Owls. I'd expect Wyatt to be a shooting guard in the NBA, but whether or not the local guy can hack it at the next level will be an interesting storyline to watch unfold.
Philadelphia's opponent tomorrow is the Houston Rockets, and once allies Daryl Morey and Sam Hinkie have now turned foes. Drama!
You can learn about the Rockets over at The Dream Shake.
This will also be our acting game thread, so grab a bowl of cereal and watch the game with the Liberty Ballers crew.
