Quite frankly, I'm disappointed. And that would be fine, if not for the stellar play of a point guard that went 6 picks after MCW. Of course I'm talking about Dennis Schroeder; the younger, smoother, more exotic point guard of whom's bandwagon I have unashamedly leapt on to. This kid can flat out ball. He's so smooth for such a young guy that I won't continue this sentence any further because of how weirdly it started. The Rondo comparisons have looked near spot on in my Summer League viewing and Dennis may even have some semblance of a jump shot!
Then I watched MCW highlights and held back the bandwagon-fuelled tears as jumper after jumper clunked off the rim and turnovers littered my viewing. Don't get me wrong - you can't teach size, or a relationship with our favourite center with our favourite hairdo - but MCW just doesn't scream star at me as much as Schroeder does.
Now here emerges the fantasy-GM in me, bursting through my chest with a horrific gracefulness akin to Alien. Just stay with me here (my name's Sam by the way - just saying). The Hawks just resigned Jeff Teague, locking him up for 4 more years: they're set at point guard. We want assets, we have expendable role players. It all makes sense; trade one (Evan, please?) and a future 2nd to a poorly run organisation like themselves in exchange for Dennis and let the rookie point guard battle ensue, allowing them to bring out the best in each other. Either way, we end up with at least one stud point guard - hopefully.
They're just thoughts. Sweet bandwagoner's thoughts.
