A Quick Statistical Look at Each Returning Sixer

I thought it would be interesting to see where each Sixer ranked at their position in various stats last year. So this post will basically just be me using Basketball Reference's awesome player season finder:
http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/psl_finder.cgi

Unfortunately, Basketball Reference only distinguishes between guards, forwards, and centers, so I can only rank players in one of those three categories (although I suppose I could distinguish them myself if I wanted to). The Player Season finder seems to have made some curious decisions regarding player positions. I'm going to restrict this only to players who played more than 1000 minutes.

If you aren't familiar with all of the stats, here is a glossary:

Anyway:

Evan Turner, Guard. There are 116 guards who played 1000+ minutes in 2012-2013.

Points per 36 minutes: 13.6 (71st)
Fouls per 36 minutes: 2.5 (51st)
Free Throws Attempted per 36 minutes: 2.6 (61st)

Assist Percentage: 19.7% (57th)
Steal Percentage: 1.3% (82nd)
Block Percentage: 0.5% (58th)
Turnover Percentage: 14.0% (59th)
Analysis: One of the best defensive rebounding guards in history, Turner's stats are otherwise middling, with the exception of his shooting efficiency, which is quite bad.

Thaddeus Young, Forward. There are 119 Forwards who played 1000+ minutes in 2012-2013.
Win Shares: 7.4 (16th)
WS/48: .136 (35th)

Assist Percentage: 8.2% (57th)
Steal Percentage: 2.7% (5th)
Block Percentage: 1.6% (56th)
Turnover Percentage: 8.0% (9th)
Analysis: Very good at causing and preventing turnovers, but had a very poor year from the free throw line, where he is usually pretty good. Just a middling rebounder.

Lavoy Allen, Forward (I know he played more center last year, but they have him listed as a forward so I'll go with that)
Win Shares: 2.5 (87th)
WS/48: .072 (91st)
Points per 36 minutes: 9.8 (89th)
Fouls per 36 minutes: 3.9 (80th)
Free Throws Attempted per 36 minutes: 1.3 (95th)

Steal Percentage: 0.8% (97th)
Block Percentage: 2.6% (28th)
Turnover Percentage: 10.3% (26th)
Analysis: Compared to other forwards, he's pretty good with blocks, offensive rebounding, and preventing turnovers, and decent at defensive rebounding, but is otherwise mostly below average.

Spencer Hawes, Center. There are 28 centers who played more than 1000 minutes in 2012-2013.
Win Shares: 4.5 (15th)
WS/48: .096 (20th)
Points per 36 minutes: 14.6 (9th)

Rebound Percentage: 14.9% (19th)
O-Rebound Percentage: 8.5% (20th)
D-Rebound Percentage: 21.7% (12th)
Assist Percentage: 13.5% (4th)
Steal Percentage: 0.6% (26th)
Block Percentage: 3.9% (15th)
Turnover Percentage: 13.0% (11th)
Analysis: A very good passer and free throw shooter for a center, but a poor offensive rebounder with poor scoring efficiency. I personally hope his ability to score points will intrigue some team into trading an asset for him.

Arnett Moultrie, Forward. This is just for fun, as Moultrie only played 542 minutes last season.
Win Shares: 1.7 (101st)
WS/48: .149 (25th)
Points per 36 minutes: 11.6 (82nd)

Free Throws Attempted per 36 minutes: 1.9 (84th)
Free Throw Percentage: .643 (88th)

Rebound Percentage: 15.1% (30th)
O-Rebound Percentage: 15.4% (2nd)
D-Rebound Percentage: 14.8% (72nd)
Assist Percentage: 2.9% (100th)
Steal Percentage: 1.7% (36th)
Block Percentage: 1.4% (62nd)
Turnover Percentage: 11.5% (39th)
Analysis: In limited minutes, he looks good. He pretty amazingly grabbed a higher percentage of offensive rebounds than defensive rebounds. His true shooting percentage is very promising.
