I saw somebody wrote a similar post about the 2013 draft and I'm sorry but I haven't been able to get draft scenarios out of my head for next year because we all know that is the draft that is going to make or break us. With that being said, I am really hoping we get a top 3 pick and so I present this scenario:
(Use this 2014 DX mock draft: 2014 Mock Draft
We have the worst record and so we are guaranteed a top 3 pick. The Pelicans finish in the 6-10 area.
1-Pick 1 Player out of all the players available for our first pick
2-Pick one player mocked after 5
3-Pick 1 player 23 and up or 3 players in the 2nd round and up. (just assume we may or may not use our 2nd round picks to trade up).
My Picks: If everyone picks wiggins its gonna get boring so my picks are 1.) Jabari Parker to play SG . 2.) Isaiah Austin to play the PF spot. 3.) Alex Poythress to Man the SF Spot.
Reasoning: I Envision Jabari Parker playing SG in the NBA and dropping a few lb's. His shot is too smooth not to play on the wing. I will hear arguments for him at SF. Yes Isaiah Austin is 7'1 but his offensive skillset is diversified way beyond Nerlens. The dude can legitimately stretch the floor and I don't think anyone can argue that he can shoot if they have seen him play. The dude takes about two 3's a game!! and Makes about 35% of them! Poythress is my favorite prospect on the board and I actually wanted him to go to the sixers if he came out this year. I see him as a jacked Moe Harlkess with more of a mean streak and probably a slightly better jump shot. Major upside.
With these 3 new players, our starting 5 honestly is probably the largest in the NBA if you think about it. And all of them have major potential. Our 1-5's heights in order are 6'6, 6'8, 6'8, 7'1, 6'11.
Let me hear what you guys think.
