Nick Young Accused of Date Rape

Young is accused of putting GHB in a woman's drink and having sex with her without her consent. - USA TODAY Sports

The Sixers' free agent-to-be is facing a civil lawsuit from a woman who claims he had non-consensual sex with her.

A woman is suing Nick Young in Los Angeles Superior Court, accusing the Sixers guard of raping her in August 2011. The full report is available at CBS Los Angeles.

The unnamed woman claims that she knew Young before meeting him in a West Hollywood nightclub, where, according to the lawsuit, Young approached her and her friend and offered them drinks. The lawsuit goes on to say that Young used the date rape drug GHB on the woman and had sex with her without her consent.

There are no criminal charges being filed (yet, and that we're aware of), but the lawsuit seeks financial damages for sexual battery, false imprisonment and a litany of other acts that, if the allegations are true, add up to rape.

The facts are still coming out, so it's unclear whether Young actually did what he's accused of having done, or not, or if he only did some of those things. This is only tangentially a basketball story, so the potential basketball implications can be left to another time. Until then, we'll try to keep you up to speed if and when more details emerge.
