Stop for a minute and think about it. The Philadelphia 76'ers are the talk of the NBA. They are America's Team...just like that.
They are that hard-luck factory worker trying to make the mortgage payment. That waitress hustling extra hours for measly tips. They're living paycheck to paycheck, on the edge.... waiting for the walls to cave in and inevitably crush their spirit.
And yet...they keep on fighting. They keep coming back, and they never give up.
They hold off the vastly superior Heat team, the one in the midst of a Dynasty. They fight off the Wizards who are not unlike that hapless fellow from the Hood, the one who's deep in the muck and wants to keep you down with him. And the Bulls, those enforcers from Chicago who are known to employ strong-arm tactics to collect on a win. They've vanquished them all, and in the interim, have given many fans a look at what heart, grit, enthusiasm, and belief-in-oneself can accomplish.
The Sixers are reminding us what life can become when you shut out the haters, the naysayers, the critics, and simply make like NIKE..."just do it".
How, if you choose to ignore the negative, self-fulfilled prophesies, flip the script and write your own story- the sky is the limit. And why not???.
Sports fans will ride this train for as long as its rollin' and with every win- we'll all feel better about our lives.
There are now folks from other teams and other fan-bases throughout the NBA who're enjoying the Sixers and MCW, for reasons that they can't truly explain.
After-all, they weren't supposed to be here, to be doing this. And, even if its just 3 games....still...all hope springs eternal.
Yes this is becoming about more than just wins and losses- its about life. It reminds us how much fun it can be when we all approach living in the "right" way.
Thank you, young Sixers, for not letting us forget...for showing us what is truly possible.
