I'll be direct - I really like Zach Lowe's basketball writing at Grantland. I want to try to copy his approach in writing about the Sixers. I could hone my writing in private and then when I think it's good enough I'd start posting here, but then I thought the heck with that so now I'm here. Together we build.
- Not 100% about this but I think James Anderson is a terrible defender. In some of the Sixers' first games they got off to a terrible start defensively, and I think he's the reason.
- I'm watching the Cavs game right now and it's early in the 3rd. The Sixers ran a pick and roll with MCW and Hawes and they got 2 points out of it (a Hawes floater). They ran something similar in the 2nd quarter and also got 2 points out of that. It looks like MCW's height really matters here. For both plays, MCW ended up getting double-teamed by Irving and Varejao but he was still able to pass it out to a rolling Hawes.
- Something I've seen twice now is someone setting an off-the-ball pick on MCW's guy (Irving) so that MCW can take a pass from Turner or James Anderson.
- MCW is really good at getting the ball to players in rhythm, except when he's trying to throw it past defenders. It's like he can't anticipate the defenders' movements. With experience, he should learn what passes he can make and which passes he can't.
