Wish we had more of these. - Howard Smith-US PRESSWIRE
So Bynum is coming back soon, and that certainly is exciting news. People keep saying how much Bynum's return will help Holiday, as he will now have a legitimate pick and roll partner, and defenses will not be able to put as much pressure and attention on our All-Star PG. Many fans think Bynum's return will also help Turner out a little bit for some of the same reasons. While this is all true, I think Bynum's return is going to have a much larger effect on Spencer Hawes than people think.
I think back to the playoff series two years ago against the Heat, and I remember many awesome passes delivered by Spencer. Most of these passes came from the elbow area, and he would often hit one of our guards on a beautiful back door cut and pass. When Bynum returns and takes over the paint area on offense, Spencer can return to his much more comfortable area, which is out of the paint and more toward the elbow/foul-line area. I think this will definitely work toward his strengths as a passer and (sometimes) a short to mid-range shooter, and eliminate his weaknesses, which, on offense, are always present when he is trying to post up in the pain.
Again, I'm not saying Bynum's return won't help Holiday and Turner, but I think many people are underestimating the positive impact it could have on Hawes, who has quietly been playing much better as of late.
