First off I heard this proposal on the Mike Missanelli show and after the passing shock of realizing they were actually talking sixers it got my thinking. A guy called in to the show saying that he apparently "knew a guy" who had "sources" that said the sixers offered Spencer Hawes and Thad Young for Luol Deng and Taj Gibson. Now there is probably absolutely no truth to that trade proposal and if it did happen it would be at the deadline if this whole Hawes at PF doesn't work out. But i still decided to break it down.
Why The Bulls Would Do it: Size and scoring they lost Omar asik in the offseason and now are 1 of the smallest teams in the league they probably are looking for a 7 footer to pick up and Thad Young would replace Luol Dengs scoring and make the Bulls a better fast break team
Why The Sixers Would Do It: Defense,Defense,Defense If this deal was done it would mean that the Sixers were very bad defensively in the first half of the year. Luol Deng is a top 5 Perimeter Defender and averaged 16 PPG in his career this makes up for thads scoring and helps us on defense. Taj Gibson is a Great Post Defender with amazing athletic ability. These acquisitions would make us a great defensive team without losing anything on offense it would be a dynomite deal for the Sixers and i can only hope this mystery guys "Sources" are correct
Now that you've heard my opinion Whats yours good or bad deal?
