Despite Collins’ Olympic history, he doesn’t have the coaching credentials of the Spurs’ Gregg Popovich or the Celtics’ Rivers.
SI.com is reporting those two are the front-runners to be the coach for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Popovich, the longest-tenured coach in all four major pro leagues (16 years), has won four NBA titles in San Antonio and was an assistant to Larry Brown on the 2004 Olympic team that earned bronze.
