Have you had your morning dose of pain and suffering yet? If not, good thing you came here! CSN Northwest is reporting that Portland Trail Blazers guard Jamal Crawford is drawing interest from the Minnesota Timberwolves, Boston Celtics, and Philadelphia 76e-- I can't even type it. The words "actively" "pursuing", and "intensely" are all mentioned in the report.
Here's the sitch about the devil's details before I go on:
A trade would grant Crawford his Bird Rights and If he isn't traded before or on draft night (June 28), Crawford is expected to opt out and become an unrestricted free agent the very next day.
Clearly the Sixers are in need of scoring, especially in the half court where they struggled last year. And with Louis Williams (likely) leaving for richer pastures, the role of bench scorer is open. You can just see the wheels turning in their head, thinking Crawford would be the perfect person to replace Lou.
- Jamal Crawford is worse than Lou. Seriously. Worse.
- He's also 32 years old, almost 7 years older than Lou.
- He's coming off the worst season of his career.
No good can come of this. The best thing that could happen is they'd bring him in for a small deal, trading their first rounder and a bit more for him. What the point of that would be, I have no idea. Jamal Crawford will not bring us a contender, only more pain, suffering, and the worst shot selection this side of J.R. Smith. Pray he goes to Boston.
Pre-Draft depression setting in.
