Most of you guys probably don't want to consider the idea of the sixers standing pat in this offseason once again, But with the free agent talent level being so low, doing little this offseason will be a smart move. To me amnestying EB this offseason is a bad move, why waste the amnesty clause on a guy who's contract will be coming off the books the following season? Many will say to sign Kris Humphries, but what will happen is we will overpay him and he won't put up the same numbers he did on that crappy nets team.
This offseason should be used to do some minor things. 1. Draft 2. Let Lou, Hawes, and Meeks walk. 3. Sign 1 or 2 role players.
I don't think shaking things up in a major way is good after a shortened season like this one. I would like to see what Jrue/ET/DRe could do with a full season and practice. Let these three get comfortable. Here is what i hope the roster looks like next year-
ALso file into that lineup a 2nd rd draft pick or another FA.
We will most likely be in for another average season with a chance to get the 4,5,6,7 seed. there could be a deadline deal in that season for us though for EB. That expiring contract is worth a lot. Look what the wiz just got for Rashard Lewis.
After this season We Can go BIG in the 2013 free agency. This is when we turn into championship contenders. CHeck out some of the FA's available- Some notable ones are: Dwight Howard, Josh Smith, Al Jefferson, Andrew Bynum, Paul Millsap, Kevin MArtin,David West,(All unrestricted) There are also many good RFA's as well.
Imagine rolling into the 2013 Nba Season With a starting 5 of-
PG- Jrue SG- Evan SF- Dre PF- Josh Smith C- Al Jefferson.
Bench- VOy, Vuc, Dragic, Thad, Ross.
Now, if the sixers somehow obtain Derron Williams and aquire Dwight Howard this offseaon, then im all for it. But that is very unlikely.
