I’m shaking right now. That was such a great comeback. They had no business winning that while getting outrebounded so badly. After Kobe’s hot start he shot them right into the loss column. Just a great win. Can’t wait to hear the pundits now.

This game taught me that taking care of the ball>rebounding. If you shoot 40% and take care of the ball, you win.

by Dan Pearson on Feb 6, 2012 6:47 PM PST reply actions

the question is, what’s more likely, getting out-rebounded that badly or only having four turnovers in a game?

neither

we faced a team based on one guy shooting the ball and two huge guys tipping in his rebounds, with a couple other guys there to play defense. The nature of the matchup led to both statistical iregularities.

but what are the chances it would lead to those two extremes?

The relationship between Philly fans and Bryant has been strained since the 2001 NBA finals against the Sixers, when he proclaimed he was “coming to Philly to cut their hearts out.” That began an unforgiving attitude from Sixers fanatics that continues to this day.

When commissioner David Stern presented Bryant with the All-Star game MVP trophy in 2002 in Philadelphia, the boos were long and loud, and he later admitted he was hurt.

He now feeds off Philadelphia’s official sound and delights in upsetting the home crowd.

It has to bother the Lakers that with all they did, they couldn’t out shoot Lou Williams and win the game. The Sixers are a better team than the Lakers, even though their bigs abused ours. They don’t have a guard capable of guarding Williams and when he goes off like he did in the last quarter, scoring 14 of his points in the final 12 minutes the Sixers are hard to beat. For you math heads that means Williams outscored his own team, 14-9.

I think this is the first time Lou carried the team on his back and this kind of outburst, going 4-6 and getting fouled twice and making 2 sets of free throws, is to be encouraged and praised as exactly the kind of performance that ALL STAR players have. This is a big coming out for Lou Williams a Big Time NBA player.
