Trades for Sixers brought up on ESPN 5-on-5

The two trades that were mentioned were:

Jrue Holiday, Evan Turner and Elton Brand for Dwight Howard and Hedo Turkogu (I say no unless Howard signed an extension). Danny Nowell's reasoning for the trade is, "I'm fully aware that Dwight to Philly is pure fantasy, but can you imagine how good the Sixers would be with Howard? Improved Spencer Hawes is nice, but Dwight makes them instant contenders, and the Magic would get some great young pieces for Stan Van Gundy to school. Holiday and Turner is a steep price, but this is fun both ways."

The other trade was Evan Turner for Eric Gordon. Mark Shore's explanation was, "A healthy Gordon would turn the Philadelphia 76ers into a team that could compete with Miami and Chicago. Meanwhile, Turner would be a nice consolation prize for the New Orleans Hornets who could lose Gordon at the end of the season."

I would do the first trade if we could somehow save Holiday from being a part of it and could get a different Magic player than hedo.
The second trade? Yes, yes, and yes.

It has to be Hedo. Taking back a bad contract is a big part of the deal.

Neither

I’ve already said that I want to take my chance at Dwight through free agency & Gordon has been to banged up to give up someone like Turner

Ha. Who are we starting at SF after this trade? Nocioni?

by yosoysean on Feb 4, 2012 3:48 AM PST up reply actions

I guess. At least until we can use our mid level exception in the off season.

Dre starts at SF. Real question is who starts at point. Lou? Not very much help there. Have to make another deal to pick up some help at the point.

Iguodala is on Orlando in Dpez’s trade.

We’d be trading for Deron Williams. He’d be starting at PG.

Wups, guess I should actually read the first comment in a thread before I comment on it, huh?

I think it would be easy to flip Hawes somewhere for a SF. How about Hawes to Portland for Batum? Or maybe package Hawes and Thad to Atlanta for Josh Smith and Zaza Pachulia? Hawes and Meeks to Golden State for Klay Thompson and Dorell Wright? The possibilities are endless really.

Love the Sixers, love the Cavs. Don't sympathize, we'll win a championship someday. Someday...

Would be much easier as two separate trades.

We also get much more injury prone but I’d take it.

by yosoysean on Feb 6, 2012 7:37 PM PST up reply actions

Also we’d need a backup PG from somewhere…
