Iguodala has chance to win over fans

Link to Sunday column:

Here is a portion of the column:

From his standpoint, Iguodala probably feels underappreciated because he can do so many things but tends to hear about his shortcomings (end-game offensive situations and free-throw shooting) and not his numerous strengths (pretty much everything else).

That’s why starting for the U.S. national team and getting repeated praise from U.S. coach Mike Krzyzewski was so good for him. It validated what he can do when surrounded by other top-flight players and is able to concentrate on defense and running the floor.

Don’t be shocked if Iguodala not only makes the Olympic team but starts.

With an all-star appearance and probable appearance with Team USA, Iguodala sure will be getting a lot of time with Dwight Howard before next season. Hopefully he can do some convincing. ;)

Yeah… still holding on to those very slim chances.

I’ve liked Iguodala’s Olympic chances better then others but didn’t think he would start you actually make a good point. Coach K won’t care but I wonder how some of the stars would feel about that

He said that Iguodala got recognition for starting for the national team 2 summers ago. No one, not even his mother expects Iguodala to start over Lebron, Kobe, and Dwayne.

Hmm this seems like he's saying don't be shocked if Dre starts on the Olympic team

How it could happen

Krzyzewski can’t and won’t start five scorers. He really likes what Iguodala does – “I love him” Krzyzewski told me during 2010 practice for the FIBA World Championships in NYC – and Iguodala would continue to defend at a high level even if he doesn’t get any offensive touches. It could happen (though, to be fair, it’s far from a given).

It seems a little too optimistic. I can maybe see him do this halfway through the Olympics when either Bron, Wade, or Kobe gets tired.

I don’t really see him winning over Philly fans. Not until he scores 20 ppg!

He needs to stop thinking he's Kobe!

There’s actually a simpler way- start taking 25 shots per game and as a result start scoring 22 points per game!

this is true

If iggy shot more, he’d be a 20 ppg scorer…and the sixers would be a worse team

but his contract would be validated.

If he shot more, became a 20ppg scorer with the sixers being a worse team, all of the critics would advocate how the sixers need to surround him with a better cast of players.

"If Iguodala were a legitimate "true" 17 PPG scorer, we’d be a better team. When at least 8 of those points come off the fast break, his true offensive production is a reality: 8-11 PPG." - LeQuan Glover

Iggy has proven that he can handle this philly scene. He doesn’t have the scorer numbers that most of us want, but he does so many things right. Sure he can give you 16.0ppg 6.0apg and 5.0rpg but it’s his presense on the court that really gives him leway to do as he pleases. To be honest, Iggy is the best one to take the last shot in a close game.
Hear me out, Iggy has the body frame to get his own shot off and create his own shot, even though they don’t always go in. If you take a look at lou williams, his body frame doesn’t allow him to bump and shove to create his own shot. He is more of a catch and shoot player who prefers to shoot in rythme compared to making his own shot. The same kind of applies to Jrue, as his body is built the same way. They both can shoot but lack the height and strenght to push and shove in clutch when the game is on the line.
So Iggy gets my respect as a palyer to be proud of representing the philly sicers.
