Video: Andre Iguodala Throws Alley Oop To Himself

Whether it comes in the form of a ridiculous no look, over the shoulder pass to former teammate Marreese Speights, a behind the back dime to Thaddeus Young in the Garden or posterizations of the entire New Jersey Nets team, Andre Iguodala has been the catalyst for quite a few highlight reels during his eight year career with the Philadelphia 76ers.

As a longtime Sixers fan and Andre Iguodala fan, it's very rare to see Dre do something on the basketball court that surprises or impresses me. He has a lot of miles on his body and is starting to get up there in age. The ferocious slams the young Andre Iguodala would bust out on a nightly basis are becoming few and far between.

However; during Saturday's win over the Detroit Pistons, Iguodala pulled off the self alley oop, off the backboard, in traffic, on a one man fast break. The play earned the number one spot on NBA.com's top 10 plays of the night. Make the jump to see the video.

Wow. This came on Iguodala's 28th birthday, nonetheless, a night in which he recorded the eighth triple double of his career. Congrats and happy belated birthday, Andre!

Totally unexpected from him, however a good way to celebrate the birthday. I think Dre is playing his best season ever (beside this alley oop obviously)

Dre seems to be the happiest he’s been this season which I think can only lead to good things.

And the most relaxed. He used to be a guy on a bad team who wanted to carry the team on his back. Now, he seems to relish the liberation of allowing teammates to make plays while winning games.

and to think...

The morons on the Fanatic yesterday morning were still pushing a trade of Dre. for Lamar Odem

They wouldn’t be morons if they didn’t think like this.

"If Iguodala were a legitimate "true" 17 PPG scorer, we’d be a better team. When at least 8 of those points come off the fast break, his true offensive production is a reality: 8-11 PPG." - LeQuan Glover

Nice. I think I’m going to have to buy an Iggy jersey next game to go with my Lou Will.
