Pistons @ Sixers Game Thread
Detroit Pistons at Philadelphia 76ers, Jan 28, 2012 4:00 PM PST
Just wanted to get this up with plenty of time before the game started but all you really need to know is that the Pistons are ranked near the bottom of the league in pretty much everything and the Sixers are at the top in most. Nikola Vucevic and Spencer Hawes won't play so that means an overdose of Tony Battie, Lavoy Allen, and Francisco Elson, who I've gotten a lot of crap for not being thrilled that the team signed him.
I'd like to take this opportunity to apologize to Francisco, his family, his fans, and the entire Philadelphia 76ers. I will never question a single thing you do from now until my dying day because I am a fan of your basketball team and therefore blindly support any move you make. This blog will now become propaganda for the Sixers, celebrating their successes and the places where success was taken from them by someone who is surely to be the Devil himself. Readers definitely would not want to go to a site who takes pleasure in disagreeing with such intelligent basketball minds and making light of their players' abilities and also poop jokes. May the Lord look down on the Sixers with favor and bless each and every one of their hearts because they are the best basketball team of all time, have absolutely no flaws to their name and will surely win the rest of their games by an average of 100 points (25 points per quarter of course, also bucket=stop=bucket).
Go Sixers!!!!!11111111!!!!!!!! YEAH WOO ALRIGHT SIXERS OK THE BEST YEAH THAT'S VETERAN GOODNESS OH HERE WE GO AIN'T NO STOPPIN US NOW FROZONE AND BATTIE THATS MY BOY LOU WILL YEAH YOU DONT WANT NONE OF THIS SEXY TIME SIXERS GOOD WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Game thread here. This is my face.

RE: Elson
I don’t think anybody wants you to be gushingly positive, Mike, but I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask that you not be quite so dogmatic in your approach. The Sixers did what most teams do, even ones with “good” front offices (see Miami with Eddie Curry AND Juwan Howard). By and large, NBA teams will almost always go with a veteran as opposed to a D-Leaguer or other assorted young guy. I have NO idea why, but it’s par for the course in the league. So why get all up in arms about it?
Nah, I wanna see Mike gushingly positive :D
I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggone it, there will be no trade for Monta!
why do you care so much about his opinion?
"If Iguodala were a legitimate "true" 17 PPG scorer, we’d be a better team. When at least 8 of those points come off the fast break, his true offensive production is a reality: 8-11 PPG." - LeQuan Glover
I meant, why would someone care to disagree with this to the point where you have to post a long message asking you to explain your logic behind it.
"If Iguodala were a legitimate "true" 17 PPG scorer, we’d be a better team. When at least 8 of those points come off the fast break, his true offensive production is a reality: 8-11 PPG." - LeQuan Glover
Seems to me like he’s looking for feedback by opening the thread the way it was opened. I offered some of it, in a (I thought) reasonable way.
he was offering a different point of view. Your only angle is, “this is standard, why shouldn’t you agree with it? Why are you acting like you are above us all by suggesting otherwise?”
You don’t see a problem with the lack of depth in this argument?
"If Iguodala were a legitimate "true" 17 PPG scorer, we’d be a better team. When at least 8 of those points come off the fast break, his true offensive production is a reality: 8-11 PPG." - LeQuan Glover
and more so, the fact that the only reason you made that post was to basically call him arrogant, rather than merely disagreeing with him.
"If Iguodala were a legitimate "true" 17 PPG scorer, we’d be a better team. When at least 8 of those points come off the fast break, his true offensive production is a reality: 8-11 PPG." - LeQuan Glover
No, the argument was “yeah it’s dumb but does EVERY post need to be about Francisco Elson? There’s nothing more to talk about?”
Where did I call him arrogant?
saying he was dogmatic in his approach
"If Iguodala were a legitimate "true" 17 PPG scorer, we’d be a better team. When at least 8 of those points come off the fast break, his true offensive production is a reality: 8-11 PPG." - LeQuan Glover
Definition of DOGMATIC
1: characterized by or given to the expression of opinions very strongly or positively as if they were facts
ummmm..ok I guess?
you’re not very good at making connections, are you? Giving an opinion in authoritative fashion can only be done if the person is arrogant, no?
"If Iguodala were a legitimate "true" 17 PPG scorer, we’d be a better team. When at least 8 of those points come off the fast break, his true offensive production is a reality: 8-11 PPG." - LeQuan Glover
So Mike’s opinions on the Elson signing aren’t expressed “very strongly or positively as if they were facts”? Ok.
For the record, I AGREE WITH HIM!
I just don’t think it’s that big of a deal. That okay with you?
They were expressed. Whether or not they were expressed strongly is open for interpretation. Your interpretation is not worthy or reciting back to him unless it was intentional. If it was intentional, then it was meant to be as an insult. Are you following me here?
"If Iguodala were a legitimate "true" 17 PPG scorer, we’d be a better team. When at least 8 of those points come off the fast break, his true offensive production is a reality: 8-11 PPG." - LeQuan Glover
I’m just gonna go ahead and repost this…
Seems to me like he’s looking for feedback by opening the thread the way it was opened. I offered some of it, in a (I thought) reasonable way.
If that’s not enough, then IDK what else to tell you.
It ain't rock, it ain't roll, if we don't disagree
ok
"If Iguodala were a legitimate "true" 17 PPG scorer, we’d be a better team. When at least 8 of those points come off the fast break, his true offensive production is a reality: 8-11 PPG." - LeQuan Glover
So because it’s the norm I should accept it? Isn’t that how fascists came to power?
Yes, most NBA teams don’t use the D-League well. But San Antonio, Houston, and others do, so it’s not like there’s another precedent set. Dumb, worthless signings should be panned regardless if the entire league is doing it as well – we’re a Sixers blog, should we just not talk about it?
by Michael Levin on Jan 28, 2012 5:06 PM PST up reply actions
I’m not saying it’s not a dumb, worthless signing. It is. But it’s been a little overblown, IMO. That’s all.
Pistons had a 5 on 2 there and couldn’t capitalize.
