Willie Green Vengeance Stalled Post-Game Reaction Thread

Despite half-court leaners and Bill floaters, Willie Green couldn't stop the Sixers steam engine that came through in the second half. With a defensive rating of 70 (!) for the half, the Sixers outscored the Hawks by approximately 4323492873 and cruised to a win. They're 11-4 on the season.

Tomorrow they face the NWO aka EL HEAT aka LOS HEAT aka THA BOSS aka THE HEAT in Miami. Or Florida. One of the two. Either way, this is your post-game thread and also a place where everybody knows your name, mostly because it says it under your comment. Cheers!

Is it me, or are the games shorter this season

Actually yes

Games have been shortened to 44 minutes because of the lockout shortened schedule.

Knicks fans booing the Knicks / chanting “Let’s go Giants”

by PhiladelphiaEagles on Jan 20, 2012 6:30 PM PST reply actions

Very hard to be a Snicks fan, they haven’t won anything in years. It was good that they got Mello and Stoudamire, but they’re not really a good team.

Giants deserve the chants.

Did you happen to be eating a snickers bar while typing this comment?

Only caught the second half, was finishing up season 1 of Homeland. Sixers are showing why having the number 1 D is making them serious contenders this season.

I think it is fantastic. The finale was exactly what I hoped, I’m just pissed that I have to wait until September for new episodes.

Be thankful you missed the first half.

Still didn't really prove anything...

…you have to wonder how different things would be if Horford were there. It’s all very well to beat a decent team, but they still didn’t have arguably their best player. The Hawks did beat up on a bunch of crappy teams with Horford out, but they really could have used him. Would have changed the whole pace of the game. Not to mention the fact that the Hawks played last night, and were clearly gassed in the second half.

Until I see some decent wins against top teams with their full compliment of players not on the second night of a back-to-back (or the third night of a back-to-back-to-back), I’m going to reserve my enthusiasm.

Still, you have to beat the team in front of you, and it’s good that they did :)

I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggone it, there will be no trade for Monta!

True but we were without Hawes as well. It is frustrating that we still haven’t had a game where we were healthy and the other team was as well to get a good reading. The simple fact is that most teams in the NBA aren’t elite and now that the Sixers are good enough to beat the non-elite ones leaves questions about how good they really are.

In any case, it will take more than one or two games against good teams to make a real assessment. Regardless of how good they really are, they are an entertaining bunch and showing signs that they aren’t afraid of any team in the league. They are not an easy team to beat, with their depth. Statistics don’t lie, even if they don’t tell the whole story. Point differential is a key stat and we’re almost a quarter of the way through the regular season. The Sixers are a good team for sure. Enjoy it.

Knicks are such frauds and D’Antoni has been an overrated coach his whole career. BOSS Coach that tries to outscore every team. Bring on New York in the playoffs.

by PhillyWarrior on Jan 20, 2012 7:02 PM PST up reply actions

If they make the playoffs and if the sixers play them in the playoffs, you’re still going to have d-bag espn experts picking the knicks over us, claiming that they have two superstars and the playoffs are different and blah blah blah. I really hope this happens so I can laugh when the sixers sweep them.

I pray every day this Sixers team plays and beats the Knicks in the playoffs. I really want to prove “experts” wrong, and ESPN is really starting to piss me off.

Sixers D

Reminded me of the 2011 Sixers/Heat playoffs, wherein the Heat decided to lock down the Sixers during stretches and there was nothing we could do about it. Should be a really interesting game tomorrrow if we have any legs left.

Boston loses to PHX, Knicks lose to the Bucks. Sixers up 5 in the Atlantic.

Win the division, guaranteed 4 seed or 3 seed?

by PhillyWarrior on Jan 20, 2012 7:03 PM PST up reply actions

yes

There are 3 divisions in the East. Thus, a div winner is guaranteed a top 3 seed.

You are guaranteed a top 4 seed
