Sixers host Bucks in MLK day matinee

Milwaukee Bucks at Philadelphia 76ers, Jan 16, 2012 11:00 AM PST

Philadelphia 76ers Game Thread #13

@

4-79-3
Location: Wells Fargo Center
Time: January 16th, 2012, 2:00 PM Eastern
Channel: CSN, NBA League Pass
Probable starters:
Brandon Jennings PG Jrue Holiday
Carlos Delfino SG Jodie Meeks
Stephen Jackson SF Andre Iguodala
Jon Leuer PF Elton Brand
Andrew Bogut C Spencer Hawes
Advanced Stats: (league rankings)
97.7 (23) Off 106.6 (3)
100.3 (17) Def 89.1 (1)
46.7% (21) eFG% 52.2% (3)
19.2% (21) deFG% 42.2% (1)
14.1% (11) TOR 12.4% (1)
27.0% (11) ORR 23.2% (27)
70.8% (26) DRB 74.4% (15)
22.9% (28) FTR 25.8% (22)

Mortal Enemies: Brew Hoop

Star-divide

  • Bogut should be back in today's lineup after missing the previous game due to concussion like symptoms.
  • After a 5 game losing streak, the Bucks had won back to back games over the Spurs and the Pistons before dropping a road game against Dallas without Bogut. They have had the previous 2 days off.
  • Brandon Jennings is having by far the best season of his career, increasing his TS% by over 40 points.
  • Second round pick Jon Leuer, who I was a fan of as a potential second round pick, has started the past 2 games for the Bucks, and had scored in double figures in three consecutive games. That being said, Brand should be able to have some success against him in the post.
  • The Sixers are once again going against a below average offense, and Jrue has traditionally held Jennings in check, so I expect the Sixers to have another good defensive showing tonight. Once again, keeping them off the offensive glass is going to be key.
Prediction: Sixers 102 Bucks 91

LRMM, Udrih, and Udrih all sat last game as well. Maybe every team is just completely injured-sacked except the Sixers.

It was sarcasm. Even though it works, sometimes, it is bad basketball. The real point is that you play the right way all the time, to stay out of bad habits. Most players instinct is to do it on their own and the hardest part of coaching is to teach reliance on others.

This was good to see, a team challenge them, and they respond by blowing them out. We still haven’t seen them play a team that is really their equal and until we do, we won’t know how they respond. So far, there is no quit in these guys, which is a great sign.

Evan Turner?

Yahoo’s box score says Evan Turner didn’t play. I haven’t been able to catch this game (or last game), so can someone tell me what happened to him?

Yeah I saw him a suit on the sideline, but didn’t catch the start of the game and they didn’t say why he didn’t play. Can someone fill us in?

OMG Carmelo had 33 points on 9/27 shooting with 5 turnovers! How didn’t the Knicks win that game! He’s a superstar.

Subline on yahoo! sports – carmelo anthony had 33 points in his return, but it didn’t matter.

yeah, really? This is what’s wrong with how the media portrays basketball. When anyone takes that many shots and shoots only 33% while using up even more possessions with the turnovers, you’re actually costing your team a win.

Sixers have held 10 of 13 opponents to 90 or fewer points. In 2010, under Eddie Jordan, they held nine teams to 90 or fewer points all year.

Dont understand this at all. EJ is a defensive mastermind.

They’ve won 9 of their last 10. That’s really incredible, even the best teams in the league rarely win 90% of any 10 games.
