Monta's true value....

First off, die hard dubs fan here, just wanted to come by and post some of my opinions about the speculated trade of Ellis for Igoudala and pehaps lend some insight into Monta's true value.

I will recognize that Monta is not a good defender. I would attribute this to our system, and the mentality of defense that has spawned from the system. He takes too many risks and he has no inside presence to compensate for his risk taking. However, and if there are GSW fans here reading this, we have all seen a motivated Monta play exceptional defense. I've watched Monta destroy some superstars with stellar defense... (Roy, Durant) My point here is that Monta has the potential to be a much better defender if put in a different system.

Monta Ellis is not just a scorer, he is an unstoppable scorer. Monta Ellis has superstar ability when it comes to scoring. He consistently is at the top of the league in points in the paint for guards, along with the Kobe's and the Wade's, showing that he knows how to get to the rack and finish. He also has that respect from the league that when teams play the warriors their defensive plan is to stop Monta Ellis....and he still for the most part asserts his will and scores, even when a team's whole game plan is to stop him.

If Monta is put in a role as a slasher/true two guard, rather than hybrid combo guard on offense his efficiency will improve dramatically. When Baron was running the show Monta's percentages were through the roof because he had guys making plays for him. Don't be mislead by those percentages you see, Monta in the right system is IMHO an unstoppable highly efficient scorer. Monta having to do everything for his young inexperienced team with absolutely no depth takes a big hit in efficiency which most players would if put in a similar situation.

I am soooo sick of people on the GSOM board and on this board acting like its highway robbery for the 76ers to give up Igoudala for Ellis. Monta Ellis is a leader, a fighter and a winner. He gets hospitalized and plays the next day, he plays through whatever injuries or controversy might be surrounding him. He hits game winning and game tying shots with regularity. He's clutch, exciting, and would definatelty make me a 76ers fan next year.

I just want to bring a differing viewpoint from everything Im hearing which is Igoudala's value is way higher that Monta's which I highly disagree with. Igoudala is a good fit in GS, because of the structure of the team, but IMHO Monta is a more valueable player with a much higher upside. Believe me when I say this, Monta will be your favorite player on your team next year if he is traded.
