The 6-foot-10, 245-pound Thompkins is somebody who interested the Sixers enough that they talked to him for the allotted 30 minutes earlier this offseason at the Chicago pre-draft camp.
“He’s got a lot of character and he’s got intelligence,” said Sixers director of player personnel Courtney Witte on Monday. “We really liked that. Today, he just continued it.
“He’s a very skilled player with high basketball IQ. He understands what he needs to do to get better and how he can help a team."
