Why Iguodala must be traded ASAP

If the 76ers want any chance of coming close to a championship, they must trade Iguodala within the next two years. Before I go on to why we should trade Iggy, let me first say that he is a tremendous all around basketball player that can provide passing, some scoring and stellar defense to any team. He's an ideal wingman in the NBA with his superb atheticsm and ability to shut down the opposition's best scorer. He is the perfect complement to a franchise player. However, ever since we gave him that large contract, he believes he is the team's franchise player and that he should be THE guy that leads Philadelphia to the promise land. Simply put, this organization can not win a championship with him as our leader  and as our best player.

Let's be honest, this team has very limited talent (other than Jrue and ET), and we are not going to attract a high profile free agent to play for us. No NBA superstar wants to come to Philadelphia and play basketball. That's not a knock on the city ( the Eagles, Flyers and Phillies have attracted big names to play for them), however its a knock on how this organization is run. For those thinking Dwight Howard has any chance of playing for us, stop dreaming and wake up. We were in trade discussions last year for Carmelo Anthony, but he said he would not sign an extension with us if he traded here. I can promise you Howard won't even think twice about Philly.

Now, how else can we achieve talent? The best way is through achieving a lottery pick in the draft, but that can not happen because this team will be, at the very least, an 8th seed in the east. That leaves us with the only other option, trading a valuable asset to our team in exchange for either draft picks, or talented young players. We have to trade Iggy right now while he's still young. Let's be honest, we only have a two year gap (that may be pushing it, i feel like its only a one year gap) to get high value for trading him. Trading him will help the franchise in two ways. First, we can get a decent return for Iguodala, and second, we will not make the playoffs without him. Trading Iguodala will be bad for the short term, but great for the long term. When he's gone, Turner gets more responsibilities and hopefully he will blossom into our franchise player. We will also get a top ten pick allowing us to draft a player with considerable talent. Look at the Thunder, they were absolutely garbage, but since they were so bad, they were able to stock up on lottery picks and draft good players.

Andre Iguodala maybe our best player, but he is also whats holding this franchise back from competing at a high level. In order to earn a trip to the finals, we must trade him immediately. This team hasn't own a championship since 1983 and hasn't had postseason success since the Iverson era. I'm not sure that ET will be our savior, but I like his game, and he is a true leader. If he can work on his jumpshot, he will be a tremendous sg. Everything else is there, the passing, rebounding, driving to the basket (started to towards the end of season, just needed some confidence) and stellar defense. Also, I believe he has shown flashes of having the "jordan gene". He's someone who wants the ball when it matters most, and I believe he will escalate his game in that situation (unlike Iggy and his ugly step back jumpshots).
