LL: Sixers Interested in Nikola Vucevic; Pre-Draft Workouts Scheduled for Saturday
Liberty Links: A daily post with links to all things pertaining to the Philadelphia Sixers
Jason Brewer of SBN Philly says the Sixers may be interested in USC center Nikola Vucevic.
ESPN's Chad Ford noted in a recent column that the 76ers and Knicks seem to be interested USC PF/C Nikola Vucevic. The 20 year old from Montenegro measured out as the tallest player at the NBA combine, just a shade under seven feet without shoes. He also had a huge 7-5 wingspan and a 9-5 standing reach, which is better than Greg Oden measured out at.
In Ford's latest mock he has Vucevic going number 25 to the Celtics. Draft Express has him going 21 to the Blazers. Vucevic is an interesting prospect who I'm not too familiar with. His combine measurements were outstanding: 7', 260 lbs with a 7'4" wingspan and 6% body fat, but his vertical of 25" and 8 reps on the bench press is a bit underwhelming. With the sixteenth pick he may be a nice gamble for the Sixers – a team in desperate need of size. He's only 20 years old and still has decent potential. Draft Express has his 'best case scenario' as Mehmet Okur. Vucevic's DREB% was 25.5 last season, along with a 4.3 BLK%.

Jonathan Givony of Draft Express does not mention the Sixers as one of the "most active" teams trying to trade up for the number two pick.

Kate Fagan of Deep Sixer has the scoop on the Sixers first scheduled pre-draft workout.
The Sixers will hold their first pre-draft workout on Saturday at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. The workout is scheduled to run from about 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and includes participants Lavoy Allen (Temple), Rick Jackson (Syracuse), Vernon Macklin (Florida), Greg Smith (Fresno State), Chris Wright (Dayton), and Tomislav Zubcic (Croatia).
Kate goes on to provide a brief description of each player, if you're interested. All six are second round options, at best.

I've actually seen Vucevic play a few times...
…he’s not bad. He rebounds and blocks shots, although he’s not the best defender in the world. I suppose the Dougie can help him there. He’s like a more consistent Spencer Hawes with a slightly superior post game, from what I’ve seen, although 3-4 games isn’t really a large statistical sampling.
I wouldn’t rip out any major concentrations of hair if he ends up on the Sixers. He’s not terribly athletic, but he’s consistently productive and seems to put out good effort, from what little I saw. He’s got an “NBA body,” and a decent touch. It could be way worse.
Probably end up drafting Jimmer, though, just because Stefanski heard what I said about him, and he hates me and wants revenge.
Note to Thorn/Stefanski: If your interested in Vucevic, trade for a second first round pick. Please don’t pick him at #16, just from what we read you scream PROJECT. And this ain’t the NFL draft(see: Reid’s Eagles), where you can draft projects early and trade down for value.
I would love to see Faried at #16, simply because Faried has a 99% translation rate, what he does, always translates. Not as a star, but we ain’t getting stars at #16.(then again, no one expected Jrue to fall).
Oh, and if you see someone fall. Please don’t just sit there and pray he’s at #16, move up to get him. We are in a REBUILDING mode contrary to your beliefs.
He wants to rebuild and win now. DON’T YOU GET THAT

Rubio going to wolves so....
Timberwolves may be interested in Iguodala. Then their starting five would be pretty formidable….
Rubio, Iguodala, Beasley, Love, and… forgot who their center was.
That team would mean Kahn digivolved from the T-Puppies to the Western Conference Sixers. I’d be excited to see just how much that team wins, just to put an exclamation point on how good(bad), we really are.
That team has no shooting, little interior presense(Love can’t do it all) and it still lacks someone who can create offense.(No, I still don’t see Iguodala as a playmaker. It’s easy to monopolize the ball and get assists).
Plus, we’ve all forgotten about the so-called future John Havelicek after he had a miserable Eurocup a year ago. That team needs a new GM, badly.

Lequan, I really don’t understand why you continue to post here when you don’t listen to anything that anyone has to say. You have been PROVEN WRONG a countless number of times with stats, yet you continue to make comments like “No, I still don’t see Iguodala as a playmaker. It’s easy to monopolize the ball and get assists.” While the second sentence in that quote is correct (Iverson’s career is a perfect example of that) it is NOT THE LEAST BIT easy to pile up assists at better than a 3:1 assist to turnover ratio, with a low usage rate, AS A SMALL FORWARD! There is no argument against that, it is fact. GET THAT THROUGH YOUR HEAD!
I really hope that my next comment doesn’t start any political bickering, but your comments about Iggy are reminiscent of the “Birthers” who would constantly harp on the INCORRECT notion that Obama wasn’t born in the US: there are plenty of legitimate issues to harp on with him, and continuously pounding the podium about something that is completely false not only clouds over the real issues, but it makes them look like COMPLETE AND UTTER MORONS!

Comment noted, but nobody respond with any more political stuff or you’ll get the boot faster than Jordan runs to a TV when he realizes he’s missing an episode of Jersey Shore.

I don’t know what you’re talking about. LeQuan provides SBNation with a wealth of NBA knowledge.
"Miami can’t beat Chicago, why? Because Chicago has everything Miami has and more.... I’ll grant you Wade/James stealing a game, or maybe two. But we’re seeing an OKC/CHI finals, and that’s a finals everyone will tune in for." - LeQuan Glover
I like Vucevic better than Jordan Williams, at least.

Samesies. I’d like him if they grabbed a late first/early second but not with the 16 and I don’t think he falls to us in the 2nd round.

I don’t want to put too much weight on athletic measuremets…
but can you find a guy with worse vert/sped/quickness/strength measurements ever?
I have not gone through the entire measurment database at draftexpress, but I think Nikola Vucevic has to measure out as one of the slowest, weakest, least explosive athletes ever tested.
