Column: Brown, Iverson in similar situations

http://ow.ly/5fO3u

Here is a portion of my Sunday column:

Today, Brown and Iverson are desperately in need of the same thing — one more chance.

It might not happen.

Brown, 70, wants to coach again. The only man to coach championship teams in the NCAA (Kansas, 1988) and NBA (Pistons, 2004) and a guy who also took UCLA to the 1980 title game, Brown couldn't even get an interview for the Penn State job.

Meanwhile, the 36-year-old Iverson told The Associated Press' Dan Gelston last week that he's hoping for another return to the NBA. He'd even be willing to come off the bench after appearing in just 10 games in Turkey last season due to a calf injury.

If either of them join the Sixers in any capacity I will not be a happy blogger.

No reason for that to happen anymore — with Billy King gone and the Sixers not desperate to become relevant (as they were 18 months ago when they brought Iverson back).
