McKie said Brackins, acquired with Songaila last Sept. 23 from the Hornets for Willie Green and Jason Smith, has every right to think that he can crack the rotation next season.
"I think, when you look at the roster, it's open for everybody," McKie said. "Look at our situation early last year - Jodie Meeks wasn't in the rotation and became a starter for us (at shooting guard) and played major minutes.
"He did sit out a year (and) didn't play much in actual games. We just want him to get a little stronger and continue to work on playing around the basket to become more of a force around the rim. He's a very skilled player."
