Sixers Draft 2011: Tourney Prospects

Photo

Read about the 13 prospects I've unofficially put on my Sixers wish list for June's draft herehere, and here. 11 of the 13 will play at least one game in the NCAA Tournament, a perfect setting for every Sixers fan to feast their eyes on potential future Sixers.

As college basketball comes to an end, and the NBA Playoffs creep closer it will probably be a while before the Liberty Ballers crew do any new prospect write-ups, and these are obviously the last games most of these prospects will play before entering the NBA. After the jump is one final look at my wish list, the top 5 defensive rebounders of the group, and the tip times of the prospects of interest.

Enjoy the remainder of the opening Thursday and Friday, win your office pools, and mount your Kennenth Faried FatHeads. MADNESS!

Faried with two clutch free throws, and the game-winning block!

by Jordan Sams on Mar 17, 2011 12:58 PM PDT reply actions

Didnt see the game live but what was up with 4 for 17? cant argue with the block and the boards though (17!! holy moly).

Looking forward to Justin Harper (Richmond) at 4p. Same game as Ezeli.

And Kansas, betw TRob and the Morrises.

Faried’s lower body strength worries me. Beast in the upper body, but he can get pushed around a bit on the block.

I have about all of his games on vid. Once the tournament’s over and I actually have the ability to get 3 hours of sleep a night, much less have free time, I’m going to really study him.

Mouphtaou Yarou

Is he expected to declare for the draft? I thought he would stay in school and work on his game more. He only started playing organized ball in 2007.

I bet he stays.

what a great end to the Moorehead State game if anyone watched it.. but i think we need a hard in the paint center so i hope we draft/trade for one(young one if we get one in a trade)

Wrong to drop out of school my senior year just so I can watch every game?

Also, I don’t want to brag (I do), but I kind of called the Morehead State game this morning. Proof.

I picked ’em in all three of my brackets beeyoch.

by Jordan Sams on Mar 17, 2011 4:01 PM PDT up reply actions

I never change brackets. If I enter 3 brackets, I enter the same bracket 3 times.

Me either, but my first one had one game different on accident.

I think Fareid's draft stock

Went waaaay up after this game. He’s gotta be going in the lottery.

That would be a huge over-evaluation of one game where he didn’t even play particularly well.

That is probably what is going to happen though. Which is even more outrageous than in the 18-22 range where the Sixers should be picking. Lottery is too high for a player that reallly only helps you on one side of the court (plus offensive rebounding).

That said, I bet he ends up going 12-16, unless he looks awful pre-draft.

Do you think Fareid whips his hair back an' forth regularly?

FARIED!!

I’m on the Faried train boys!!

by jrb5094 on Mar 18, 2011 9:23 AM PDT reply actions

I asked Speezy about the potential chance of playing along side Kenneth Faried. Here's how the conversation went down:

@Mospeights16 How would feel about playing with a guy like Kennenth Faried next year?
@MacNaismith who is that

I think he’s pretty pumped like the rest of us!

by Naismithball on Mar 18, 2011 10:13 AM PDT reply actions   1 recs

14 boards for Yarou so far...

and 2 blocks. Still don’t think he’s really ready, though. Only 6 points (although on 2-3 FG, 2-2 FT). A guy that big should be able to create some offense down low.

by dweebowitz on Mar 18, 2011 1:16 PM PDT reply actions

I think Yarou should finish all four years of school. It would help him improve his overall game and gain more knowledge of the game. He has only been playing since 2007. He has the physical tools.
