Summer League Game Three Sixers/Thunder Thread: Metaphor About Jrue as Lightning

James Harden: So what now, Mr. Turner? Are we to be two immortals locked in an epic battle until Judgment Day and trumpets sound?

Evan Turner: Or you could surrender.

Game thread ya'll. Keep it fresh.

I’ll be here for you. These five words I swear to you …

by Jordan Sams on Jul 7, 2010 11:44 AM PDT reply actions

Without a decent front court, Jrue and Turner will be wasted.

by briztoon on Jul 7, 2010 11:58 AM PDT up reply actions

haha I’ll be dead asleep by the time the game starts. Down here (Aussie East Coast time) most NBA East Coast games start between 10am and 11am, while West Coast games start at 1pm. Which is good for me as I usually start work around 3pm.

However the summer league games are on too early.

But the one link they have for the game says it’s off air. Is it working for you?

Jodie Meeks is looking really good.

by chase8008 on Jul 7, 2010 12:40 PM PDT reply actions

well, at least better than Willie Green

Oh my Jrue

by Sixersftw on Jul 7, 2010 12:42 PM PDT up reply actions

Jodie isn’t bashful

by Sixersftw on Jul 7, 2010 12:47 PM PDT reply actions

No, but Evan Turner looks bashful right now

by chase8008 on Jul 7, 2010 12:49 PM PDT up reply actions

I expect better from Turner in the second half.

by bdownbear on Jul 7, 2010 12:59 PM PDT reply actions

Turner just needs to get used to playing off the ball. When he does, I believe this will help in all areas of his game. I also think because he is currently at his best with the ball in his hands, he will be the backup point guard this year.

If I could switch Willie Green for Mike Green, that’d be pretty cool.

Jodie Meeks can score. If he keeps up this defensive hustle I’d like to see his minutes increase this year.

I’m glad Doug Collins isn’t in denial about Speights— he agrees Speights is playing pretty poorly this week. Speights does not look 100% since the injury still, but i hope that heals quickly.

Sign Cedric Simmons.

This is exactly where you want us to be. We will get to see how good our team really is now this 2nd half.

by DeanH on Jul 7, 2010 1:06 PM PDT reply actions

There’s Goodrich!!

by DeanH on Jul 7, 2010 1:22 PM PDT reply actions

holiday looks great. I know he’s played a year. Turner, not so good.

by mothergoose on Jul 7, 2010 1:28 PM PDT reply actions

meeks looking good too

by mothergoose on Jul 7, 2010 1:29 PM PDT reply actions

The games we are playing this year is day and night from last year. It looked hopeless last summer watching the summer league…

by DeanH on Jul 7, 2010 1:34 PM PDT reply actions

Holiday is the man. 22 pts. 4 dimes with a quarter left to play.

We were down 14 at the half now we’re only down 4.

4th quarter here we go!

by guitarmouse35 on Jul 7, 2010 1:35 PM PDT reply actions

would the second overall draft pic please show up!

by mothergoose on Jul 7, 2010 1:38 PM PDT reply actions

he’s playing without the ball in his hands, or at least trying to, so I think there will definitely be a learning curve.

by guitarmouse35 on Jul 7, 2010 1:45 PM PDT up reply actions

guitar, thing that worries me. Holiday is the point, and is showing it. So, turner, will be SG, off the ball if he wants major minutes. A concern yes?

by mothergoose on Jul 7, 2010 1:50 PM PDT reply actions

I’d say a little concern, but Evan Turner is a basketball player. He hasn’t even played a real NBA game yet. He has the rest of the summer to learn to play without the ball. I’m not too worried. I think it’s way to early to regret the pick, I know I don’t.

by guitarmouse35 on Jul 7, 2010 1:54 PM PDT up reply actions

this is exaclty why i wanted wes johnson and maybe a trade with turner. We will have to see, its only three summer games.

by mothergoose on Jul 7, 2010 1:51 PM PDT reply actions

Turner played off the ball, and was very successful doing so, quite a bit as a sophomore. completely premature.

by Derek Bodner on Jul 7, 2010 2:07 PM PDT up reply actions

i agree. he does have a pg mentality, and look a jrue! He’s done the work this offseason. Turner and Speights for a trade for a big and a shooter.

by mothergoose on Jul 7, 2010 2:00 PM PDT reply actions

just a thought…….yes, it is early, but damn, 2nd pick.

by mothergoose on Jul 7, 2010 2:01 PM PDT reply actions

harden handled him. Jrue is obviously the point. So, wait for turner to be a good to average wing. Or go after a proven shooter and get someting in returen. What team needs a pg?

by mothergoose on Jul 7, 2010 2:02 PM PDT reply actions

we get it. you’ve posted it at least 4 times.

by Derek Bodner on Jul 7, 2010 2:09 PM PDT up reply actions

again, who’s “we” man?

by mothergoose on Jul 7, 2010 2:38 PM PDT up reply actions

that’s actually the point i’m making to you.

by Derek Bodner on Jul 7, 2010 2:11 PM PDT up reply actions

For those who actually watched the games.....

Speights scored a bunch of points late in the game and again today (almost when it seemed out of reach (i am only following the

Did it seem he just started chucking and gunning when the game was pretty much over to inflate his stats?

by shova on Jul 7, 2010 2:43 PM PDT reply actions

sorry bout that…boss showed up.. :-) meant to say… I am only following it on NBA.com’s boxscore… yes I am to cheap to pay $15 for Broadband. Not until the 76ers are relevant.
