Aldridge: Sixers had 16th best off-season
"With a couple of huge, untradeable contracts on the roster, the Sixers knew they had to coach up what they had to see improvement next season. They reached into our TNT booth for Collins, one of the great teachers in the business, who will have the team ready to play and well-versed on what the opposition is going to try to do. Collins' track record is pretty clear -- he's a turnaround artist who dramatically improves his teams within a year."

16's a bit high
But considering the massive contracts doled out by fools in suits, I’m not surprised. Our worst move was a veteran’s minimum deal to a guy we found on an archaeological dig.

wait -0 besides hiring Doug wasnt that our ONLY move this off season… (drafting Evan Turner doesnt count…anyone could have done that..)
Dalembert trade, which was bad because it brought back Nocioni’s contract.

Strange topic
Exactly what it is that Aldridge is trying to rank is surprisingly opaque. It’s not about which teams improved themselves the most or which teams will be the best. It’s not about which teams made smart picks in the draft or which teams had lottery picks. It’s something like Aldridge’s personal opinion about which teams were smart in their FA moves and coaching changes relative to the hand they were dealt – e.g. he gives Utah gets a very high grade even though the team might well have gotten worse because they avoided getting ever more worse.
Aldridge apparently likes Collins a lot, but even including that factor he still ranks the Sixers as remaining in the underachieving half of the the league in his ad hoc category. I didn’t feel enriched by this “information”.
I saw Aldridge and Sixers and I got excited
Anyway, I’m kinda happy that the Sixers didn’t have any cap space. They wouldn’t have been able to sign Bosh, Wade, or Lebron anyway. The Knicks have been waiting 5 years for this off season and only have Amare Stoudemire and Raymond Felton to show for it. Stefanski would have probably made a dumb move like giving Drew Gooden 32 million or signing Linaz Kleza to a big deal.
or should I say.. Jrue that! BAM.
Let the Jruth be told.
