Poll: Ed Stefanski
Fans have wanted Sam Dalembert gone for years, and he's asked for a trade numerous times. Yet, when Easy Ed pulled the trigger two days ago -- shipping Sammy to the Kings -- not only were people shocked, but disappointed as well. I've had a couple days to think about it and will eventually post my thoughts, but in the meantime, tell me how you feel about Ed Stefanski as a general manager going forward.

The only thing that I have really disagreed with is the hiring of Eddie Jordan. I will be honest I am really surprised by the reaction of the Dalembert trade.
-Nobody liked the guy
-The trade gets us under the luxery tax and I know that is going to piss some of you off but if we are not going to be contending for a title what is the point of paying it
-He was a problem in the locker room and that was only going to get worse this year and why deal with that since he most likely wasn’t going to be re-signed
-From some of Collins comments yesterday he probably wasn’t even going to start or play as much since Collins said with Dalembert here he thought that he had to play Brand strictly as a Center and without him here Brand can go back to Power Forward
The problem isn’t necessarily trading Dalembert, it’s having to pick up Nocioni’s contract for an extra year or two. I resigned myself to the fact that we’re going to be mediocre next season, but it’s now gonna be frustrating to watch the atrocious interior D.

I gave him a 3.
Smart guy but don’t like his approach:
1. Thought he could play without a real PG (last season after Miller gone.)
2. Thought he could buold a “Piston’s Model” contender without a superstar around Brand/Miller/Iguodala/Thad/Sam
3. Said yesterday team concepts can overcome going into the season without a legitimate interior defender or good frontcourt rebounders…. reminds me of the PG comments a year before, but hopefully more moves will address this.
4. His best chance of success is mostly due to luck/failure that got them the #2 pick. Honestly, his team building approach should have made them medicore, without a high pick or cap space for 3 more years. So only his horrible coach(EJ) and Brands bust got them a shot at adding the type of star they really need.
Now that I think of it, maybe 3 was generous :)

Follow up: Can Stefanski build a contender
I’d say unless Turner becomes a to 5 superstar(unlikely) then the answer is a resounding NO.
By thanksgiving, we’ll all be on the Hawes bandwagon, claiming how we knew he’d be a stud with the right coaching staff and nurturing environment. Ed Stefanski will look like a genius with this trade. All aboard!
If I were a coach, I’d love to have to walk in Eddie Jordan’s shadow. the bar is pretty low. If the team is back to where it was 2 years ago he is a huge success.
I’m going to go on record here as saying that Hawes will suck about 80% of the time, and have a good game, or a good quarter, and a few people will get all excited about him and think he’s the answer to anything other than the trivia question “What tall, clumsy white guy most belongs at the end of the Sixers’ bench modeling the latest big-and-tall line suits from Boyd’s?” Ok, maybe that’s Jason Smith. But still. remember the “Flight Brothers?” Smith and Hawes can be the “Flightless Brothers”.
I remember the year he was drafted hearing about how interested the Sixers were in him, and how happy I was he got drafted before they picked, because I didn’t want him then and I don’t want him now.
Yes, you can call me on this if he turns out to be good. I would be thrilled to be wrong here. But I don’t think I am.
