Sixers Set Pre-Draft Workout Schedule
The debate on who the Sixers will select with the 2nd overall pick in this year's draft will come to a close in a mere 13 days. In the meantime, Tony DiLeo, Ed Stefanski, Doug Collins, and other scouts will conduct workouts with some of the top prospects available. We already knew a workout was scheduled for both Derrick Favors and DeMarcus Cousins, sparking some debate as to whether the Sixers will end up passing on Evan Turner or not.
Today, we can add more names to the list of players the Sixers will workout in the very near future. The one and only Evan Turner is scheduled to appear in Philadelphia on June 17, one day before the Favors/Cousins show. There is one other prospect the Sixers will work out that week, and his name is not John Wall (or Bill Nye the Science Guy).
On Saturday, June 19, the 76ers will host Wesley Johnson as he attempts to outshine the other prospects in hopes to make himself the 2nd overall selection later that week. Will it happen? Most likely no, but the Sixers are doing the smart thing and weighing all of their options.
"We want to make sure we get an additional look at the players available to us with the second overall pick in the NBA Draft," Sixers President and General Manager Ed Stefanski said. "These are all very talented prospects who can make an immediate impact at the next level..."
June 17 -- Evan Turner
June 18 -- Derrick Favors/DeMarcus Cousins
June 19 -- Wesley Johnson
Do whatever you need to do to get pumped up for the workouts (filling your passion bucket, crankin that Soulja Boy, or cookin with Coolio) because the draft is on its way boyz! In the meantime, try to enjoy the World Cup and use as much soccer (futbol) lingo as possible. It's worth it.

Looks like the Wizards aren’t working out Turner and Turner is only working out for us.

We need a striker in the draft.
A goalie wouldn’t be bad either.
The Sixers need to approach this as if all the prospects are level, with everyone tied at nil-nil. Whichever prospect can create the most chances and take advantage of those chances should win the #2-overall-pick cup.
The Sixers should make sure to draft a player with good pace, great touch around the ball and finishing ability.
Just my personal opinion, Demarcus Cousins should be shown a red card and taken off the board – but I’m glad the team is doing their due diligence.
I think that’s 7 futbol references.

Why exactly would you throw out 1-3 years of games/production/development and base everythign on individual workouts ?

just curious
did Doug Collins ever broadcast any college games? Does anyone know.
And, is he a defensive minded coach? He seems to be pretty knowledgeable abt the game on tv, but I’m curious as to what type of coach he will be. We’ve had sooo many coaches over the years, I hope he sticks.
In a short media session after his workout, Cousins revealed a sense of humor, a combative streak and a preference for scrimmages over training sessions – and this can be a good thing. He says he was a “terrible, terrible” football player. He claimed to be a better prospect than Favors and disappointed that Favors’ camp refused to allow a one-on-one scrimmage.
(Emphasis mine)
Sigh
