Updated: Sixers Coaching Search: Quick Recap

Updated May 8, 5:38 pm

At least a dozen names have been mentioned in the Sixers search for a head coach, and I'm having a hard time keeping track of who's been contacted, interviewed, and given the wink and the gun. I know I wasn't the only one to see this article and think to myself "Only two candidates have been interviewed, really?", so I'm putting together a breif list of what's happened so far.

Interviewed

Doug Collins

Avery Johnson

Sam Mitchell (pending)

Dan Majerle (pending)

Monty Williams (pending)

Bill Laimbeer (pending)

Contacted

Mentioned, in some way shape or form

Mike Budenholzer

Tom Thibodeau (Interviewed last year)

Larry Brown

Jay Wright

Mike Fratello

Mike Woodson

Dwane Casey (Interviewed twice last year)

Coaches I’d be pleased with:
Budenholzer
Thibodeau
Casey

Unsure but would think of as a positive hire:
Williams
Majerle
Laimbeer

Could go either way on:
Johnson
Mitchell

Would not be happy:
LB
Collins
Wright
Fratello
Woodson

Just figured I’d get my opinion out there.

I pretty much agree with that list. Good job.

Solid rankings. Except I would put Johnson in the “not be happy” pile.

I’d put Laimbeer in the pleased with section & drop Casey down to Unsure, but pretty much agreed.
