Around SBN: Raiders' GM Begins The Purge

With the 6th overall pick, the Philadelphia 76ers select ... Cole Aldrich?! Say it ain't so!

Analysis: Aldrich might never be a star, but he's a solid big man who rebounds, blocks shots, and scores from inside and out. With only one more season left on Samuel Dalembert's contract, Aldrich would provide some great insurance. -- Ford

Well, it might mean another good pick next year.

The Sixers are always a year or two away from being a year or two away.

He could be our Sharone Wright pick…

May be the case, but I didn’t root for losses for 5 months to pick Cole Aldrich. I’d like to think that the Sixers would take Aminu or Davis instead.

Aldrich will be much better than Sharone Wright.

Hopefully we won’t be in this situation. One of the main reasons I’m not cutting my hair till after the lottery.

Aside from being lazy?

by jemagee on May 6, 2010 12:49 PM PDT up reply actions

made a vow in october to let my hair grown to break the curse of my sports teams. since then, the cowboys December curse broken, won their first playoff game, drafted the guy i wanted.

i have to cut it soon because i start my internship in june, but i’m waiting till the lottery, just in case there’s some john wall magic left.

by Jordan Sams on May 6, 2010 1:10 PM PDT up reply actions

Cause your hair length is important to the success of the sixers.

by jemagee on May 6, 2010 3:29 PM PDT up reply actions

can i equivocate?

Dude, I’m lazy, i get my hair cut super short and then don’t get it cut again until showering becomes irritating

I’m glad i’m not going bald or anything but my hair just is a pain in theass

by jemagee on May 6, 2010 4:09 PM PDT up reply actions

I’ve had fairly short hair my whole life and haven’t cut it in 8 months, so you can imagine how long it is. It looks terrible, blows in the wind, painful to wash, gets all oily, etc.

But if this is what it takes to get John Wall and a Cowboys SB, I’m willing to do it.

I’ll take Aldrich over Monroe. I might even take him over Davis.

But there’s no reason to take any of them at 6.

by Derek Bodner on May 6, 2010 12:19 PM PDT reply actions

I’d take Cole over Monroe too. DX also has Cole going to us at 6. It’s way early, and the lottery hasn’t even happened, but still. Yikes.

by Jordan Sams on May 6, 2010 12:38 PM PDT up reply actions

I’d put both of them over Davis, because in talent level I think they’re comparable, but for me Monroe has more upside so I’d rather have him at 6 or 7.

by Michael Levin on May 8, 2010 4:38 AM PDT up reply actions

Aldrich is tall. You can’t coach tall. Etc. Etc. He won’t score, rebound or defend at an NBA level, but he is really tall.

At least he’ll take up lots of space at the end of the bench with his nice suit he buys will all the guaranteed contract money the #6 pick gets.

Sheesh.

Ugh.

Cole Aldrich is going to be the draft pick that re-energizes the Sixers. We need to match him up with a coach that will get the fan base equally excited. Hm…let’s get…Vinny DelNegro! He’s available! Cole and Vinny! Perfect together!

Sign me up for season tickets to the Cole and Vinny show!
