OperationWTF - Day 13

Day 13 of our experiment after the jump. Will the Aminu pattern continue? John Wall? Evan Turner? Let's go!

Star-divide

18 days till the lottery ...

Here's the scenario ESPN's Draft Lottery simulator spit out at me today:

Dun, dun, DUN DUN! 1st pick and John Wall. It's so good to see the Sixers logo at the top. Need I say more?

According to DX's rankings, these are the guys who'd be available to the Sixers at 6: Wall, Turner, Cousins, Favors. No-brainer!

Simulation #1: 6th pick, Aminu

Simulation #2: 7th pick, Aminu

Simulation #3: 3rd pick, Cousins

Simulation #4: 6th pick, Aminu

Simulation #5: 7th pick, Aminu

Simulation #6: 2nd pick, Turner

Simulation #7: 7th pick, Aminu

Done. Bring on the lottery!

I’d rather take Turner or Favors tbh

That just proves my theory about you

Ok I am sure you have a theory about me...

My reasoning for wanting Turner or Favors over Wall is that we already have a PG and Stefanski has said they view him as the future of this team. So what is the point of bringing another one in unless it is to be his backup if they don’t think Lou can be it? So if they really do view him as the future they should add players around him rather than a player that could potentially take his job.

It’s a nice theory

It’s also stupid unless you already have a SUPER star point guard – not a guy who had a good half season…

by jemagee on May 2, 2010 5:52 PM PDT up reply actions

With a team like this you don’t pass on Wall that’s just not a realistic option. Either you keep both and see if their games compliment each other or you find yourself w/ a future all star talent and a valuable trade chip. Wall and Jrue aren’t in the same league simply put. A team that is clearly rebuilding for the future, you draft the best talent available, not for need. Give a call to the Pistons and the Blazers about how such decisions can affect a franchise.

Mazal Tov! (playing klezmer music and capering around the room chassidic-style)

OK. It’s just a simulation. I know. But it’s nice to at least see it in living color.

YES!

The pattern is finally broken! Hopefully our wildest dream comes true.

by joe_digiacomo on May 2, 2010 4:31 PM PDT reply actions

In 1984 the trailblazers didnt want to draft a certain guard because they already had the future in Clyde Drexler…instead they picked up sam bowie. Your out of your mind if you pass on john wall because we already have a 19 year old pg we think is going to be pretty good. When your that high in the draft, you take the best player available…especially if that guy is considered to be once in a decade kind of player.
