I wonder how he did on the chalk board?

Early reports are that the jacket remained on for the duration.

per Chris Mannix of SI:

Stefanski called the meeting “productive” and praised Collins as a coach with a “proven track record” and a “great knowledge of the game.”

I think “proven track record” is this summer’s “killer instinct”

That’s what Magic said last night about the Jazz— they lack killer instinct— I lol’d, but not literally though. Just the ‘laugh to yourself lol.’

Marc Stein says:

Sixers announce that they met w/Doug Collins about their coaching vacancy SAT in Phoenix. Next up for Philly is MON sitdown w/Avery Johnson

Why is Avery even bothering interviewing for this job when everybody knows if he gets offered the Hornets job he is going to take it.

by The Legend on May 2, 2010 3:34 PM PDT reply actions

Keeping his options open. Last year he said he didn’t want the Sixers job because he wanted to be the only candidate. So, I think he’s wasting everyone’s time.

Because if the hornets go in a different direction he needs to have options.

Are the Hornets interviewing anyone else?

by Jordan Sams on May 2, 2010 3:46 PM PDT up reply actions

He can try and drive his pricetag up with competing offers. Its all about the money.

Generator Rex isn’t bad

Collins is about 6th on my list of candidates. He doesn’t really have a proven track record of anything except coaching teams who severely underachieved come the playoffs. No thanks.

Can't think of something catchy to say here...I suck.

Hasn’t asked to interview casey but wants to interview mark jackson…woo boy

by jemagee on May 3, 2010 6:45 AM PDT reply actions

I thought Collins did a decent job in Detroit. They lost in the 1st round both years, but they were the lower seed both times, and the team stunk before he arrived.

All that positive devil’s advocate stuff aside……no, I don’t want Collins either. I’d just throw rose petals in Avery Johnson’s path as he entered the room for the interview, offer him an insane amount of money, and not be too proud to beg…..maybe cry and beg.
