Around SBN: Upon Further Review: Bo Knows Longreads

Drool. I just thought of a comparison I haven't heard anyone make yet - Paul Pierce. Both played 3 years at fairly big colleges. Both lack explosive athleticism. Both have "old man" games. Both overcame ridiculous injures (Pierce was stabbed, Turner broke his back).

Pierce's sophomore and junior years at Kansas:

16 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 1.7 steals, 0.8 blocks, 3 turnovers, 49-47-72 percentages.

20 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 1.1 steals, 1.1 blocks, 2.9 turnovers, 51-34-74 percentages.

Turner's sophomore and junior years at Ohio State:

17 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 1.8 steals, 0.8 blocks, 3.5 turnovers, 50-44-79 percentages.

20 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, 1.7 steals, 0.9 blocks, 4.4 turnovers, 52-36-76 percentages.

The only major differences are the turnovers and assists. Although Turner had 4.4 turnovers his senior year, he still had a better assist/turnover ratio.

The Villain's jumper is also smoother looking than I remember.

I admit, the more i see him the more i like him, so that I sometimes think: hope the wizards do not pass on wall to get him…but one question flies on my mind: he’s physically strong enough to be, say, our future kobe?

no comparing him to kobe. let’s just let him be evan the villain turner. i don’t want the same thing to happen to him that happened to iguodala.

it’s inevitable :(

Turner doesn’t not have MVP potential. He does have perennial All-Star potential though which is more than you can say about anyone else on the Sixers.

MVP?

No, but then again KOBE only won it 1 time and he’s the best player in the nba (for the past 10 years and running)

KOBE, more clutch than Jordan!

Sick video son!!!!!

If we dont take Turner and we dont trade back (like if we grab Cousins with the 2nd pick when we could trade back 4 spots and grab a 2nd rounder or player) I dont know if i could still be a sixers fan, I mean a man can only take soo much, right?
CMON 76ERS DONT FUCK THIS ONE UP!

My two comps are Manu &/or Current Kobe(using skill & guile to dominate). I don’t see Pierce as much, though he has a Pierce/Kobe like mindset of aggression.

Mainly because Pierce relies mostly on his long range jumper to encourage the defender to stay close and than uses his strength to get space whereas Manu(& Current-Kobe) use their length & balance to create angles for openings.

Pierce is bigger, a better shooter (higher release and higher arc), and a better leaper. Turner is a better ball handler and seems to have better lateral movement. I don’t really see them as very similar. If Turner ever develops into a repeat all star, it will be in his own creative way rather than like some current prototype. I wish I could see more film of him playing against competition with similar length and speed like he will face in the NBA. If the Sixers pick him, I see him as having an immediate impact by improving our weakest defensive position (whichever wing position Iguoadala isn’t playing) so he is a safe pick for the team.
