There is a God! Thank you Jrue! I love you! We could get Wall though. But I love it either way!

Here in D.C. ...

… there’s already been speculation that Wall and Gilbert can’t co-exist and they’d be better off picking Turner.

I doubt they’ll do, but I’m sayin there’s a chance.

Congratulations to you guys.

A lot of people are envious of this franchise. Which is probably a head start after the season the Sixers had.

Will Turner be the superstar Collins needs? Let’s hope so. Everyone’s calling this a 2 player draft…and we just got a shot at it. I like Favors…but I like Turner more. I’d love Wall, but we have Holiday, and while Wall is better (or should be), I like the idea of Holiday + Turner. Big time.

They will if Stefanski isn’t let anywhere close to this. Hopefully Shue + new coach (err…Doug Collins) will be there. Word is (from Stephen A. Smith) that Stefanski’s word is worth jack, hence Shue is babysitting him. We need about 4 of those at the draft.

Centers = very hard to draft for IMHO

by Dylan Marck on May 18, 2010 5:50 PM PDT up reply actions

All we need now is for someone with common sense to run this draft. Hopefully it’ll be the new coach…or a GM that understands what’s what.

I think getting your own trainers and such is selfish, so yes. It’s all about attitude. Relax man, and enjoy a debate. And btw, that’s one big thing that SAS talked about on Mikey Miss this afternoon that really made me like Collins.

Although, I’d rather have Casey.

by Dylan Marck on May 18, 2010 6:27 PM PDT up reply actions

OH well see, I’m not upset, I’m enjoying myself , using SAS as a debate point indicates that it’s not worth listening to because he is not worth listening to (nor is any philadelphia sports radio show actually)…and I see where you’re coming from…i expect if you followed baseball you’d talk about how walks were for pussies

by jemagee on May 18, 2010 6:30 PM PDT up reply actions

Walks are for pussies, except when it puts the team in a better scoring position than a K. Which is always. Walks on a pitcher’s stat line is bad, however.

No I don’t disagree with all of this. The Sixers are in trouble for it more than Iggy is. I just don’t see what it proved over than paying him for past effort. If anything, I think it made him a bit sloppy.

With the right coach I think his skill set would be better utilized. But he will NEVER be a top tier superstar. He just won’t. Not unless he’s hiding something no one has ever seen…

by Dylan Marck on May 18, 2010 6:07 PM PDT up reply actions

Top 30’s don’t win. I think it’s what..7 teams that have won the last 15 championships or something like that? Some very, very, very small number. We need a superstar, and Iggy, as much as he tries, isn’t that. I think Turner may actually help him, to be honest. Just let him do his thing, so to speak.

by Dylan Marck on May 18, 2010 6:12 PM PDT up reply actions

hes not making super star money

by killacaravagio on May 18, 2010 6:13 PM PDT up reply actions

i think most people's problem, including mine is a lot of the fault of the organization also.

he is not a number 1, nor will he ever be – especially with his fantastic 3pt fg%, yet he still insists on shooting 7 threes a game, at times. the sixers; however, have continually marketed him as a superstar. like they say, “you don’t want to be the man that follows the man – you want to be the man after that.” so, he is screwed by the organization and by a.i. also, contract wise, i think he’s a little overpaid bc the sixers outbid themselves.

I think a lot of peoples problems is that they don’t understand how much money he does make compared to the perception (thanks idiot radio) that he’s paid ‘max money’ (he’s not)

He is one of the fifteen best all around players in the league – but the guys who are considered the best more often than not excel really well in one area that is easy to look at the stat sheet

The problem is that people still think points per game and rebound per game translate to good and bad

so if the Hornets, who already have CP3 and Collison, had the #1 pk and drafted Wall, that can only mean that Wall is a can’t miss, star-in-the-making and the rest of the draft is not that good.

You’ll guys get a good one in ET. I have a feeling he’ll quickly become a fan favorite in Philly. But don’t expect him to score too much his rookie year — the reason he dominated college hoops is because he adapted to the gamestyle and was literally light years ahead of everyone he played. It will take him some time to adapt to the NBA, so be patient with him.

Call me crazy, but Turner reminds me a lot of a Kobe Bryant or Tracy McGrady. Give him time to develop his outside shot and he can be “the man” here in Philly.

by jemagee on May 19, 2010 6:50 AM PDT up reply actions

I’m gonna be honest… I have no idea what this means. I’m assuming it’s a joke, but don’t know how to respond.

If you’re bustin’ my balls for joining for the first time just because of the #2 pick, then let me just say:

Yes, the #2 pick brought guys like me out of the woodwork. Call me a fraud. Call me a front-runner. Call me what you will, but let’s be honest… the Sixers were flat out unwatchable over the last couple years. I am an Eagles fan first and foremost, however I’ve been a 4-for-4 Philly fan since birth. I might not search Liberty Ballers or other blogs for Sixers info year round and I might not watch every Sixers game during the season, but I follow them enough to know what I’m talking about.

Having young guys like Holiday, Speights, Young, and the #2 pick (Evan Turner) finally brings some hope back to fans like me after a dismal season. So bust my balls if you want, but that is why I’m here. As someone said above, it’s not time to fight, it’s time to rejoice. And that’s why I’m here.

If you don’t want the less-than-hardcore Sixer fans like me around, then I apologize. I will be sure to go back to BGN and never come back. Haha

I’ts a joke from last night – no biggy :)

But you’re wrong though – John Wall is the ‘best’ fit on most every team that was in the lottery that doesn’t have an established all star upper echelon point guard (but New Orleans and Utah probably would have picked him first) – he’s the best fit in Minnesota too no matter how silly they want to be to try and save face on the rubio pick.

John Walla is the best player in this draft when you factor in off court problems (if you factor those out – cousins comes into dicussion) and that includes the upside as well. Turner is very good, but wall is better, and you can’t just look at numbers for their years in college and say anything about it – keep in mind that Wall is also younger than Turner so might grow more, change body type.

Fans who come back expecting Speights or Young to excite them are going to be disappointed mostly – Holiday had half a good season – but so did Young his rookie year

Just don’t say anything stupid or pretend you own 3 restaurants and we’ll be fine :)

plus i made obscure 80s movie (awesome one) reference that should have given away i was joking

Haha my bad

I saw comments above or on another thread about how guys are coming out of the woodwork solely because of the #2 pick. Being new to LB, I don’t know the personalities of the regulars here so trying to decipher “cyber-sarcasm” can be difficult. I apologize for basically commenting about nothing.

But anyways, I see your point about Wall over Turner. If the Sixers got the #1 pick, they would have to take Wall. That’s a given, but looking at their roster, I personally think Turner is not a bad “consolation prize.” I love Jrue Holiday. Think he’s going to be a very good player. The problem is, I don’t see Iggy or anybody else as a “go-to” guy. And that’s what the Sixers need to round out the team. And I think Turner can (and will) fill that role.

Wall and Holiday would definitely be a nice guard duo, but I think Holiday and Turner can be just as good and will complement each other very well.

I concede your point that Wall is a better prospect than Turner, but I’m very excited about the possibility of having a guy like Turner on the team.

No – getting the #2 pick is much better than the #6 pick – I’m not arguing with that – but let’s just say Washington does something monumentally stupid (not out of the realm of possibility, they gave gilbert a max contract (worse than brands folks) after missing a whole year) and drafts demarcus cousins #1.

At that point the sixers do back flips and they take John Wall #2 – that’s just the facts :)

People are so busy predicting who will and won’t work together, but you can’t do that until you see how they work together, if you know what i mean, everyone is putting players in boxes and saying ‘this is their box’ – without seeing if they can adjust their games to work together…I believe Iguodala can…most don’t (of course most hate him too)

Trading someone because they won’t work together before seeing if they work together is like picking a VP candidate because you need a woman instead of deciding if she’s actually qualified to do the job

And for those ‘lottery is fixed’ people – did any ‘historic’ franchise with a new owner need the #1 pick MORE than the wizards after the past year they had?

i predicted a sixers, wizards, pistons top 3 based on that premise.

You got a new owner in new jersey and have to build up hype for when they move to brooklyn (which is probably closer to 4 years than 2 honestly) – if you popped them out of the top 3 in what many see as a 3 player draft, mikhal might have taken his money and bodyguards an dhooker girlfriends and left

Wizards yeah, but sixers, meh, i mean if ownership was more interestedd in the sixers, then i see it, but ownerships lack of interest in the sixers probably rubs stern the wrong way
