While Kevin Durant is a wonderful basketball player he should stop using twitter because he just proves the notion of great athletes not being made to do things like learn to read or write very well

by jemagee on May 18, 2010 3:31 PM PDT reply actions

Not a huge of his twitter-feed either.

by Jordan Sams on May 18, 2010 3:32 PM PDT up reply actions

Did I say anything about Twitter, Kevin Durant has embarrassed him self grammatically in many places…as for athletes using twitter, well an athlete using twitter is a moron to start with.

by jemagee on May 18, 2010 3:33 PM PDT up reply actions

Whoops – I did din’t I – i’ve seen durant interviewed though and that’s when I realized that seen not heard should be his life motto

by jemagee on May 18, 2010 3:35 PM PDT up reply actions

He mumbles a lot

which is stupid. Speak up dude, sound professional!

by DanyS on May 18, 2010 3:40 PM PDT up reply actions

Yes – you’re 20 years old – be a professional already…

I don’t care if he mumbles, I’ve never noticed that, he just doesn’t know words

by jemagee on May 18, 2010 3:41 PM PDT up reply actions

Well maybe he is speaking confidentally(sp?) and that’s why he whispers?

by jemagee on May 18, 2010 3:48 PM PDT up reply actions

you forgot about the word "clearly"

plus confidence/whispering don’t mix – I tend not to take someone seriously at work if they mumble.

by DanyS on May 18, 2010 3:50 PM PDT up reply actions

I tend to not take someone seriously when they are discussing a topic like grammar and diction but make up words.

by jemagee on May 18, 2010 3:52 PM PDT up reply actions

Dear Tanner

protected twitter feeds are for losers – like louis williams

by jemagee on May 18, 2010 3:32 PM PDT reply actions

although i like to follow athletes on twitter, the less players on my teams who have twitter, the better.

if tony romo ever gets a twitter, i’ll be upset.

by Jordan Sams on May 18, 2010 3:36 PM PDT reply actions

I really don’t care what athletes think.

The fact that so many people DO just proves what’s so broken in this nation.

by jemagee on May 18, 2010 3:37 PM PDT up reply actions

Good thing marc cuban isn’t at the lottery – blogs getting media passes? What the hell

by jemagee on May 18, 2010 3:36 PM PDT reply actions

at least 25% of sb nation has credentials. brightsideofthesun had their exclusive video played on tnt last night.

by Jordan Sams on May 18, 2010 3:38 PM PDT up reply actions

TNT is the network that lets the fat hypocrite who married a white woman talk a lot right?

by jemagee on May 18, 2010 3:40 PM PDT up reply actions

You know the sixers could make the lottery more about them by ‘secretly’ hiring a coach and then having him sit in the seat for the lottery – that would mess with people

by jemagee on May 18, 2010 3:37 PM PDT reply actions

that’d be sick if they announced their coach that way.

by Jordan Sams on May 18, 2010 3:38 PM PDT up reply actions

See – I’d do it purely for shock and showmanship value – THAT’s how you spur interest :)

by jemagee on May 18, 2010 3:40 PM PDT up reply actions

since i’m not a flyers fan, i watched that entire third period wondering “are the flyers using up all Philadelphia’s luck right now?”

by Jordan Sams on May 18, 2010 3:42 PM PDT up reply actions

And then you hit yourself in the head realizing that are a rational human being right?

by jemagee on May 18, 2010 3:42 PM PDT up reply actions

I remember that movie. I was always confused after I watched it.

by Ben16 on May 18, 2010 3:48 PM PDT up reply actions

How can one be confused – it’s like uber awesome

by jemagee on May 18, 2010 3:48 PM PDT up reply actions

LIke a fetus? If you can walk and talk you can get that movie

What time is the picking itself? I know the show starts at 8, but are they going to drag it on until 8:20 before it goes down?

by chillicothe20 on May 18, 2010 3:45 PM PDT reply actions

It’s during half time of a game so it can’t be THAT long – but it will take a minute – they’ll have to introduce everyone – make russ granik feel loved – and introduce the (useless) accountants

by jemagee on May 18, 2010 3:46 PM PDT up reply actions

If you don’t already know, the NBA draft lottery is being held Tuesday night at 7:30 ET, prior to Game 2 between the Celtics and Magic.

According to Yahoo

by Eric T. on May 18, 2010 3:49 PM PDT up reply actions

Well that’s dumb – no one is gong to watch the game now

by jemagee on May 18, 2010 3:49 PM PDT up reply actions

i’d guess 8:15 is when the actual picking starts.

by Jordan Sams on May 18, 2010 3:47 PM PDT up reply actions

NBA FAIL

by jemagee on May 18, 2010 3:59 PM PDT reply actions

stern said a change in the lottery such as a play-in type tournament (which was discussed) cannot happen until a change in the collective bargaining agreement

by Tanner Steidel on May 18, 2010 3:59 PM PDT reply actions

I think it’s insane – why does everyone worry about the draft lottery in the NBA but no one gives a crap when teams tank in the NFL?

The problem with the lottery is that the worst team gets fucked – the nets WERE TERRIBLE and they have a 75% chance of NOT getting the best player

by jemagee on May 18, 2010 4:02 PM PDT up reply actions

it’s more a money thing than anything. a 14-team playoff for the number one pick would do extremely well for the NBA, marketing-wise, money-wise.

by Jordan Sams on May 18, 2010 4:03 PM PDT up reply actions

I don’t think it would

by jemagee on May 18, 2010 4:04 PM PDT up reply actions

WOO HOO MY TEAM IS THE BEST WORST TEAM IN THE LEAGUE

Money and logistics make it untenable unless it’s on some sort of neutral site type thing – every other day – 4 byes in the first round and then 4 games in 8 days -

by jemagee on May 18, 2010 4:06 PM PDT up reply actions

i would’ve loved to see the sixers in a 14 team tourney for the number 1 pick. then at least you can’t blame the 7th/8th pick on luck.

by Jordan Sams on May 18, 2010 4:17 PM PDT up reply actions

and i bet those games would get way more attendance than regular season games = money.

by Jordan Sams on May 18, 2010 4:21 PM PDT up reply actions

Except that they’d either be neutral site or require a LOT of travel and quick ticket sales

by jemagee on May 18, 2010 4:22 PM PDT up reply actions

don’t u think the neutral site would be full? and playoff tickets sell out in like 25 minutes.

by Jordan Sams on May 18, 2010 4:24 PM PDT up reply actions

for a fake playoff to ‘win’ the lottery? No i don’t

by jemagee on May 18, 2010 4:36 PM PDT up reply actions

and it will be on the board of discussion while working out cba

by Tanner Steidel on May 18, 2010 4:00 PM PDT up reply actions

Good – I was worried with all the ACTUAL problems that this would be missed.

Ask him about the age limit – I’m curios if he wants to raise it

by jemagee on May 18, 2010 4:02 PM PDT up reply actions

also says he feels “tanking” has been addressed with current lottery system – says the results of the past lotteries are even causing teams with worst record to feel not properly compensated

by Tanner Steidel on May 18, 2010 4:02 PM PDT up reply actions

That’s because it’s fixed davey and we all know it

the first time the worst team EVER won the 14 team lottery happened to be when cleveland got Lebron

by jemagee on May 18, 2010 4:02 PM PDT up reply actions

Say the #Sixers win the lottery, then trade Wall and Brand to the #Raptors for a sign-and-trade of Chris Bosh — thoughts???

by jemagee on May 18, 2010 4:10 PM PDT reply actions

I thought Bosh was going to end up in NY with LeBron?

Have we considered who should be picked when the typical luck of the Sixers comes through and they pick 9th? Of course, the Jazz would get the #1 pick, because they really need John Wall :)

by dweebowitz on May 18, 2010 4:28 PM PDT reply actions

I wouldn’t mind trading down from 7-9 to get Whiteside at 11-12 and (whatever we’d get for the trade down).

by chillicothe20 on May 18, 2010 4:30 PM PDT up reply actions

read my mind. if the sixers got 7 or lower, i’d love to trade down or just take whiteside at 7-8-9.

by Jordan Sams on May 18, 2010 4:30 PM PDT up reply actions

i wouldn’t mind trading from 7 to 17, depending on what the return is, of course.

by Jordan Sams on May 18, 2010 4:31 PM PDT up reply actions

The guys left at 7+ (Aldrich, Davis, Aminu?) aren’t that exciting. Defintely worth a trade down.

by chillicothe20 on May 18, 2010 4:33 PM PDT up reply actions

i like Aminu and Whiteside at 6/7. after that, i’d trade down.

by Jordan Sams on May 18, 2010 4:36 PM PDT up reply actions

by chillicothe20 on May 18, 2010 4:44 PM PDT up reply actions

I’d bother to explain it to you but you won’t care…it’s not as simple as balls – it’s a ‘formula’ and i blelive they run it more than once…they aren’t picking EVERY team – only the top 3

As a Brandon Roy fan, if you get anything like him you’ll be super happy.

Hopefully he’s healthier and less over rated

holy shit, did we really get the 2nd pick?
it’s so hard to follow half-way around the world.

I like Turner, great size and can shoot…. might actually be good next to Iggy… even though a player like Turner coming, I could see Iggy get the boot/

who has the first pick?

by jefu on May 18, 2010 5:28 PM PDT reply actions

Wizards, Nets got the third.

screw him, they’re still getting a great pick

by jefu on May 18, 2010 5:29 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeah – but John Wall would be a much BETTER pick

I guess the wizards got their gilbert replacement.

Now that we have Evan Turner, I’d like to inform you all that his nickname is “The Villain” and I would be displeased if you called him by any other nickname.

by yosoysean on May 18, 2010 5:29 PM PDT reply actions

I’m calling him Turny since Iguodala has to put up with Iggy

Number two pick!? As my friend Zumoff would say, oooooooohhh yes!

Question: how big a dropoff is there from Wall to the others?

Is it a disaster that the Sixers won’t get Wall?

Or will Turner/Favors still solid?

by MyronBales on May 18, 2010 5:29 PM PDT reply actions

we’ll have many days to debate, but fit-wise turner is actually a better fit. no one can complain with number 2 though. how big of a drop off is there from turner to aldrich? massive.

Favors all the way but you are absolutely right, that is exactly what will happen.

by jlb2609 on May 18, 2010 5:31 PM PDT reply actions

Wolves were already saying they were going to take Turner if they were first pick.

by Ant on May 18, 2010 5:32 PM PDT up reply actions

Evan Turner? YES.

Derrick Favors? Fairly Yes.

Cousins? Much Less Yes.

Over/Under

How long until people start complaining Turner is not a true #1 type star?

by tk76 on May 18, 2010 5:34 PM PDT reply actions

I kind of feel sorry for Nets fans to be honest

You are the worst team in the NBA by a long shot and you don’t even get rewarded with a #1 overall pick as you would in, say, the NFL.

YES!!!!!

What a night. I still can’t believe it!!!

I didn’t want the pressure of drafting Wall and having him not work out in the long run, not to mention the problem of having two ‘point guards.’

Evan Turner is not only the best player available to us at 2, but he’s filling a position we so sorely need. Andre can now play the 3, and hopefully a scoring burden will be taken off of him in the coming years— Turner can score.

Tonight could not have gone better in my opinion—including the Nets getting the 3rd pick :)
