Pre-2010 NBA Draft Lottery Thread

The day we've been anticipating since December 1 has finally arrived. Enjoy the next 17 hours, while the optimism is high, because afterwards there's no more hoping, there just is. The Sixers will either hold the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th, 8th, or 9th pick. I don't know about you guys, but I'm a little on edge, and anxious to learn our team's fate.

Use this thread to discuss the lottery, the draft, and any superstitions you're taking part in today. Or just enjoy the calm before the storm.

I haven't found the exact percentages, because every source if different, but here are the approximate percentages for the Sixers:

Top 3: 18.6%
Pick 6: 44%
7 or lower: 37.4%

Follow the jump for a few personal requests ...

Star-divide

Be sure to check out our updated 'Sixers Draft Central 2010' page for all things Sixers' draft.

If you play ESPN's draft lottery machine, stop once the Sixers get the number one pick, and DO NOT close the browser.

If you're anywhere near Tom Cruise, find a way to high-five him. We need his mystical force ...

I will throw the biggest party tomorrow if we get a top 3 pick. I will go streaking if we get the top pick. I hope Jrue brings us luck. P.S. go Stros! lol

I did the ESPN lotto 10 times, got:
3rd, 7th, 7th, 6th, 2nd, 6th, 7th, 6th, 6th, 6th

ESPN Bilas top 14

6 – Monoroe
12 – Cole Aldrich

I respect him a bit more now just for having Aldrich at 12

I will be going to the Phils game tonight. I’m not sure if I’m happy about it, although it does take some of the stress away. I’m going in assuming we’re getting the 6th and being happy with it. But I will be hopping on the thread via my non-Blackberry/iPhone/Droid/SmartPhone. I’ll be trying.

I am going too! Atleast we get a Halliday bobblehead!

Anyway, I think it is a good chance it gets rained out.

But I will be doing the same on my Blackberry Storm.

had tickets for tonight that I had to give away.

I was there last night. It was wet and cold.

if the sixers don’t get a top 3 pick, I’m going to be looking for the ‘play again’ button.

by Jordan Sams on May 18, 2010 9:39 AM PDT reply actions

i’ve played the lottery like 30 times, still no #1. not feeling very lucky …

When did Ford move Aldrich down to 8?

by jemagee on May 18, 2010 10:17 AM PDT up reply actions

has the pistons taking aminu instead. it’s based on teams.

F me

Oliver (Philly)

If the Sixers don’t get lucky tonight, who can justify taking at the 6th spot?
Chad Ford (1:38 PM)

I don’t think the draft is necessarily the way to go for the Sixers given their personnel. I think I’d consider swapping it for a veteran.

by Jordan Sams on May 18, 2010 11:11 AM PDT reply actions

I was just going to bring that up. I wonder who would be available if we decided to do that.

by The Legend on May 18, 2010 11:15 AM PDT up reply actions

last year the fifth pick landed randy foye and mike miller.

by Jordan Sams on May 18, 2010 11:20 AM PDT up reply actions

Chad Ford would consider swapping it for a veteran

Chad Ford time and again demonstrates that he’s a moron

Stop worrying about what chad fracking ford says – it’s like listening to howard eskin

The lottery/mock draft machine hates me

Earlier while I was eating lunch I hit the button 50 times. This is probably a bad sign.

  1. pick: 2 times (4%)
  2. pick: 2 times (4%)
  3. pick: 2 times (4%)
  4. pick: 18 times (36%)
  5. pick: 23 times (46%)
  6. pick: 3 times (6%)

Detroit had a top 3 pick about 18 times.

by wildcatlh on May 18, 2010 11:46 AM PDT reply actions

Er, that should be #1 pick, #2 pick, #3 pick, #6 pick, #7 pick, and #8 pick. Stupid auto-numberer.

by wildcatlh on May 18, 2010 11:47 AM PDT up reply actions

What I do when I'm on a conference call and very, very bored...

The RealGM Simulator was much nicer to me. Much much nicer.

1st Overall Pick: 5 times (10%)
2nd Overall Pick: 5 times (10%)
3rd Overall pick: 3 times (6%)
6th Overall Pick: 19 times (38%)
7th Overall Pick: 18 times (36%)

Got the Sixers getting the number pick on the second time playing!!!!

by YoSixers on May 18, 2010 12:01 PM PDT reply actions

My prediction is that the sixers get 7 and the pistons end up in the top 3

and fans everywhere bitch about the sixers winning a coin toss that if they lost they would be in the top 3

And of course – there’s one little douche nut that if he makes one more racist comment i get to ban hs ass

by jemagee on May 18, 2010 3:30 PM PDT up reply actions

It’d be just like the Sixers to lose even when they win.

by yosoysean on May 18, 2010 1:44 PM PDT up reply actions

Well it’d be just like teh fans to think that the coin toss had an impact on the lottery when it only had impact on who picks 6/7

by jemagee on May 18, 2010 1:55 PM PDT up reply actions

I’m off to the game. Get me top 3 boys, I trust you all. Except Ben. Ben is sneaky.

Hey everyone!

I decided to take a break from coming onto this site and partaking in the pre-lottery talks; 1. because of school 2. I’d spend more time looking up stuff on players instead of studying….okay so both points go hand in hand.

Regardless, BIG night in Philly!
