Avery Johnson, the former Dallas Mavericks head coach and currently a TV Analyst for ESPN says that he is scheduled to speak next week with our beloved 76ers and the Hornets. Club representatives will meet Johnson in Texas. The Sixers will meet with Avery on Monday, the Hornets will meet with him on Tuesday. Johnson has coached in Dallas for three seasons. He led the Mavs to an NBA Finals appearance in 2006, but was fired after a first-round playoff series loss to New Orleans in 2008.
If the Sixers could nab Johnson, the Sixers would be going in the right direction. After finding a new Head Coach, they will still need to do a lot of rebuilding starting this summer, trying to unload some big contracts, and making an impact in the NBA Draft on June 24th.
