Not tanking
The term "tank" and all other forms of the word are being thrown around a lot. I just wanted to get my mind right regarding the whole situation. John Wall is very good, we all know that. But the sixers arent tanking. no team in the NBA is tanking (well purposely tanking...some GMs and coaches are so bad its almost like tanking).
So i cant figure out whether everyone uses this term lightly as like "we're tanking te-he...cuz we're so bad" or "we're deliberately losing to get a better chance at a higher pick tankity tank tank." TAFKAMB used the term in a post and uses it frequently. i dont know what he thinks about the situation, but i hope he doesnt believe we're actually tanking. We're just very bad. And the coaching is almost irrelavent. If Red Auerbach, John Wooden, and Gregg Popovich morphed into one supercoach and ran the Sixers, He (capitalized for hypothetical greatness) couldnt make winners out of this team and difference in wins would be negligible. The pieces to the puzzle are round and dont fit together.
I guess i just wanted to see if i have it straight about the use of the term "tanking" or if people actually think we/any other team is tanking. Id like to see evidence based research if u truly believe so.
just for my own comfort, ill say that i wish we would lose every game the rest of the season. i wanted us to go 0-82 this year. its just better for the team.

When I say we are tanking, gob, I refer to we as the blog. I don’t think anyone on the team nor coach ballsack (that’s what his friends call him) is openly trying to lose games. The front office may be pulling some strings to get the younger guys in, but nobody’s trying to lose.
Except for me. And yes, I have pull.

You do know that they were in the playoffs the previous two years right? Stefanski just picked the worst possible coach for this team, and hopefully this year he picks one that focuses on defense and not the princeton offense.
With a defensive coach and hopefully a top 5 pick I fully expect them back in the playoffs next year.
This is a good article on it.
In ’06 the Wolves needed to lose the last game of the season to keep their top 10 pick, so they benched their best players (KG, Ricky Davis, Troy Hudson) and Mark Madsen “coincidentally” shot 7 threes (7 more than he shot all year). He ended up missing all 7 threes and finished the game 1-15.
I call that tanking.
That said, I don’t think the Sixers are tanking, and if they are, they’re trying to be a little more subtle.
Pick up Madsen, let’s see that stroke!
