"Iguodala has much to recommend him: stellar defense, great feel for the game, strong passing and rebounding, world-class athleticism, superb slashing, and the willingness to develop his outside shot. And yet Iggy, like Odom, might be about to surrender his place on pedestal.
You have to blame this as much on the Sixers as Iguodala. By not seeing a player for who he is, Philly set themselves up for disappointment and put Iguodala in a perpetually awkward position.

[snip]

He's been pigeonholed, due to certain facets of his game, context, and the contract he signed (can you blame him for that?), as your typical athletic swingman. However, if he accepts a demotion of sorts -- one he himself might be willing to -- we'll get to see that Andre Iguodala is in fact a far more complex, and valuable, player. In this case, we're being kept from realizing that Iguodala offers more because he's being typecast as a false superstar. One step back, two forward."

Is there more to this, what does he say the Sixers should do differently.

I think he’s being played out of position, and the roster has too many guards. Iguodala should play the 2 guard spot, which would give them a size and strength advantage most nights.

Lots of teams want Iguodala, makes you wonder why, doesn’t it? Or are others just picking on a desperate team with no direction- trying to trade them your slop and get a good player.

He’s basically saying what a lot of people have been saying: Iguodala’s not a superstar, nor a true number one option. We’re being robbed of Iguodala’s true talents because he’s been posing as the Sixers superstar and go-to guy for a couple years now. It’d be best for both parties if he peaces out.

He didn’t make any suggestions.

If only there were a way for you to read the rest of the article for yourself…

So it’s just the ruminations of some guy who doesn’t know squat. I didn’t think Iguodala was going to be a team’s primary scorer, ala Kobe or Jordan. I thought he was a 20 ppg. 2 guard with great athleticism. It’s not his fault that the Sixers are playing him out of position, or making him fit in with 2 other guards and another small forward. A go-to scorer is an Elton Brand or M. Speights type player more often than not. It’s very rare that a 2 guard is your dominant scorer, and it’s not necessarily what’s best for a team either.

Iguodala shouldn’t go anywhere, not for anything I’ve seen mentioned so far. One thing I’m reasonably sure of is that he could be a supporting player on a championship team. So why not keep him here as a piece to work with?

Iguodala rumors heating up more and more, really doesn’t like like he will be sticking around. I always liked the guy, just not the position he is in. Good luck to him wherever he does end up going.

I honestly think that the internet and rumors is like the serpent around earth in asgardian mythology, they feed upon themselves, but they get bigger…I don’t believe that more articles means more likelihood, just means more folk on the internet read an article (perhaps the sten thing about a suns scout at the game) and then put something together for traffic on their site.

Amar’e and Iguodala – two biggest names in discussion right nwo – they’ll get the most print

Yea good point. Have not heard as much about Kevin Martin recently but every day it is constantly Iguodala Iguodala Iguodala.

by YoSixers on Feb 8, 2010 6:17 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Cause people have noticed that Kevin Martin is an injury prone one dimensional player who needs to dominate the ball to be useful.

If he can’t be useful with Tyreke Evans how can he be useful on a GOOD team with a guy like DirK?
