76ers @ Warriors Game Thread
Philadelphia 76ers at Golden State Warriors, Feb 23, 2010 7:30 PM PST
As Jordan continues to update the lottery standings, I won't make mention of it here. Tonight is a big game to lose and if we muster up enough mediocrity and poor coaching decisions I think we have just the right stuff to do it. We're 5 games up on the Warriors so it may seem a bit out of reach, but a loss tonight bumps it to 4, and that could spiral into some antimomentum that seems like the perfect recipe for our boys.
If you believe in yourself, You. Can. Lose. Fingers crossed, nose held, buttons buttoned.
Let's do it.

Minnesota pulls a daring victory over the wade-less Heat.
Pierce-less Celtics prove too old but still good enough over crap-town Knicks.
By the way, this made me “lol,”

consecutive 25 point games:
Michael Jordan 40 (twice)
Kevin Durant 29th tonight
Allen Iverson 27
Going to miss the beginning - got to get some reading done.
My topic today is dyslexia. How ironic is it to do readings about dyslexia?
I may also have to leave early. Yeah, I’m a flake.
Interested in the guard match-ups tonight, with Lou and Jrue up against Monta Ellis and the other guard. With Willie out, we may see Andre Iguodala in the back-court. Figures the Sixers would be short guards on a night that they play a doughnut team. I want to see our young forwards.
Empty arena, but some Sixers fans in the stands out there. Gotta love Sixers fans, wherever you go, there are a few. Pretty undeserving team these days.
yeah there’s only a few at the Wachovia center too. I don’t know if we’re thinking of a different Sixers, but the team I’m thinking of doesn’t have many fans

This is a nightmare match-up for the Warriors. The game they like to play, is the one that lets the Sixers go go go!
The warriors are one of the worst teams in the league and have more injuries than the blazers right now.

In that situation he is allowed to. The defender was partially inside the semi-circle when Iguodala passed the ball to Speights. As Speight headed towards the basket, the defender stepped outside the circle, but was still moving. The proper call is a block, not a charge.
Besides blaming Speights when Iggy passed the ball to him, shows a bias on your part.
Your resume doesn’t exactly qualify you as a rules expert
by jemagee on Feb 23, 2010 8:11 PM PST up reply actions
Read the rules, Jack! You don’t know the difference between a charge and a block. You can’t step in front of a player driving to the basket. If you ar there first, it’s charge, if your feet are moving it’s a block.
I’m pretty sure
A. You aren’t an NBA official
B. if I had to choose who was more knowledgable about the rules of the NBA (and everything else in the universe) i’d pick the UNLV undergraduate over you

he was outside the circle when he took the contact, he was there well before speights. no one argued the call, the commentators said it was a charge right away. the only person that thinks it was a charge is you.

one of my fav dunks of all time was last season against Dallas. he had a putback dunk. i was third row at about the top of the key on the side he dunked it. it was so nasty but in a game that became pointless about 2 minutes earlier.
i’m not positive, but he was sideways and it came into his hand perfectly and he cocked it back. it was awesome
yep, pretty sure that's the one.
I tend to remember it being a little further from the basket and with more extension, but I’m pretty sure that was the one.
I was at that game!
My family and I came in late, right as that happened. It was unreal. It was several years ago, though.

I’m not saying they’ll lose – but this team can’t maintain that hot shooting (though the warriors can continue to shoot that bad) – being 5 for 6 from 3 encourages them to take more 3’s – this is not a good 3 point shooting team

I couple of tough fadeaway turnarounds for Iguodala here. He shouldn’t be taking those, even when he’s making them,
You can apply that logic to the entirety of the sixers lineup and the 3 point line
Is Kapono dead?
by jemagee on Feb 23, 2010 8:38 PM PST up reply actions
Jordan just doesn’t play him. This was a bad move for the Sixers to get him. Either Jordan shouldn’t be the coach or Jason shouldn’t be on the team. Total waste.
No, it wasn’t.
Reggie Evans is gone
And that’s good
I think you should go looking for your sense of humor though
by jemagee on Feb 23, 2010 8:40 PM PST up reply actions
Reggie would be a more useful bench player than Kapono. Jason really is too slow, can’t dribble, or rebound. All he is, is a spot-up outside shooter. On a soft team like the Sixers, Reggie could really help.
A very bad trade as it worked out.
Oh, so you think Reggie Evans is a useful basketball player – so there’s another one on the wrong side of the ldger for you.
Yes that’s all Jason Kapono is – he was a good 3 point shooter at the time
Guess what the3 frack the sixes don’t have +ANY of since they traded Kyle Korver

by jemagee on Feb 23, 2010 8:45 PM PST up reply actions
So what? They never play him, because he doesn’t fit in. Until the Sixers play inside out, there’s no point in having a one-dimensional outside shooter.
By the end of the season Reggie will play more minutes and score more points and grab more rebounds than Kapono will.
You can blame this on Eddie, but Kapono is a very limited player.
By the end of the season Reggie will play more minutes and score more points and grab more rebounds than Kapono will.
And you in your wisdom somehow thinks this proves something.

they’ll turn it around eventually. they have an owner who’s willing to pay so that helps in baseball.
and they had a sick run in 04 and 05.
i suppose – but 3 (pending) straight world series appearances with 2 wins is pretty good too :)
Seriously though – the owner is part of the problem – he may be willing to spend – but so is daniel snyder

the owner is definitely the problem, but i’ll take the good with the bad. the astros have made more world series than the a’s in the past decade.

I just can't get my mind around baseball
It’s great to have a team to root for, and of course I love the Phillies., But I just love the game of basketball, and am happy to watching it over anything else, no matter who the players and teams are.
I like em both equally – i wish basketball had as much itnerest in analysis as baseball did :)

Need a lot more cameras around courts – i’m thinking 10 iso cameras, one on each player on the court at all times…plus technology needs to be used more in the game…
by jemagee on Feb 23, 2010 8:51 PM PST up reply actions
I think part of the problem is
that for real, good analysis someone has to sit down and watch every possession a bunch of times to determine exactly what happened to everyone on the floor. Basketball isn’t as easily quantifiable as baseball. It’s really time-consuming. Not that that should be an excuse (there are people with enough time on their hands) but it explains, at least in part, the delay.
Computers and 10 cameras – i’m telling you – the technology is available :)

so many things to make fun of in here. lets just go for it.
1. If their guard tandem is so vaunted, how come you’ve only heard of Monta Ellis?
