Is this the sixers next coach?

Travis Heath works for Hoopsworld.  he does a weekly chat and honestly he looks like a bartender as far as I'm concerned, so I don't know if his sources have any reliability or who he knows or his history of reliability.

But he posted a comment on twitter in the past 24 hours that affects the sixers and I'm sure people will have an opinion about.

Who is this coach you say?  Keep going gentle reader.

Star-divide

Little birdie currently employed by a NBA team just whispered in my ear that he expects Byron Scott to eventually be head coach of 76ers.

So, according to this unsubstantiated rumor, the sixers already know who their next coach is.  And hey look, he has a connection to Ed Stefanski.  (Now that could be why this source thinks B Scott will be the next coach, who knows).

He's a retread, he's a guy who has already burned out in two separate jobs, the sixers wouldn't be doing a real job search.  I have no idea how Scott feels about defense, but I know Chris Paul misses him.  But this is just a contrary move to how I think things should be done.  If this pans out after Eie Joran is fired (come on it's inevitable and everyone knows it) that Scott is the sixers 'pre-picked' head coach, i'll be annoyed AND it'll probably mean stefanski keeps his job (Look Mr Snider, Byron is who I really wanted, but he wasn't available, and we had to hire someone)

Something to discuss instead of god awful games and where Iguodala might be traded.

I’m not a fan. These re-treads will have to make me believers before I have any faith in them.

And there was the exact same rumor when Cheeks was about to get fired. I believe SAS said, “Eddie Jordan will eventually be the Sixers coach.”

I was hoping that both Eds would be gone.

Whoo-hooooooo!!! From worst to bad… I guess Id take it, but why cant we find a good coach for once?

Why would a good (experienced) coach take on a job with mismatched parts, no room to maneuver rosterwise and an ownership not interested in winning as much as avoiding the luxury tax.

oh yeah, combine that with the ownership being UNWILLING to pay a good coach the right salary – and if they fire brace face, they’ll be paying off two coaches already.

This is not an attractive roster, it’s not an attractive ownership, it’s not an attractive job – so why would a good coach take this job.

A good caoch with prior experience can hold out on tv while waiting for a job they want

A ‘future’ good coach might turn the job down because a bad first job can ruin you forever as an nba head coach, and this franchise is a god awful mess

it’s not an attractive job

It’s a head coaching job in the NBA. That’s attractive enough and there are tons of talented coaches out there, it’s up to management to find them.

I think the allure (and stability) of an NBA head coaching job isn’t the same cache as similar to the NFL – plus there’s heavy coach turnover

I don’t know much about Byron Scott. I know he coached a team to over 50 wins in the western conference. I also know he wasnt capable of coaching a team to win when their all star was injured (difficult for most coaches around the league).
With that said, if he were the next coach post-Eddie-firing, it would seem like a desperate move by Stefanski to keep his job.
This doesn’t sit well with me.
In my opinion, this season is already wasted. They have no chance of making the playoffs and they have a mismatched roster with holes (ie too many guards, no real backup center). I would like to see an interim brought in who can follow orders from above on evaluating the players and developing the younger guys. Someone who has worked closely with the team for a while.
If/when they are ready to contend, then I would like to see a good coach brought in.

save the money and let mckie coach. i would have preferred byron over jordan to start. i have no clue why every ones going with this offensive minded coaches when the ones that stress d tend to make it deeper in the playoffs more consistently

I think the coaches that stress both aspects of the game and mold their systems to fit the players’ skills make it deeper into the playoffs.

This is probably an ongoing joke that I just missed, but are you removing the d’s in our coach’s name because our defense is atrocious.

If so… well done sir

Not that ongoing – i just kind of started doing it a week ago – i juts can’t give him any respect when i write his name, so it’s that (and yes, no d) or coach brace face
