Draft Express on Jordan Hamilton
Our own Jordan has been vocal about his love for Texas swingman Jordan Hamilton. Today, DX came out with their Prospect of the Week scouting report on him. Here's what Jon Givony, headmaster of Draft Express and BFF of Derek Bodner, said that I found most interesting:
"Hamilton is clearly a big time offensive talent with a game that is probably better suited for the more wide-open style of the NBA. The superior spacing and faster pace of the professional game will make his shooting and overall scoring ability stand out even more."
He still looks like a late lotto prospect to me. If Andre goes, Hamilton's strengths would play very well next to Turner's.

This is the part I found most relevant:
Probably the weakest aspect of Hamilton’s game right now is his defensive presence. His fundamentals are extremely poor, as he regularly bites on pump-fakes, gambles for steals, falls down mid-possession, and is very upright in his stance, making it easy for opponents to blow by him. His lateral quickness looks average at best, and his intensity level isn’t very high to compensate for that, as he just isn’t physical enough, and doesn’t seem to take very much pride in shutting down his man.

Perhaps Collins can get through to him and make him an almost-average defender, but I’m very concerned about his defense, which I mentioned to Jordan last week.
I do think he could move up into the early 20’s, and possible late teens, just based on his ability to score off the ball and in bunches, which will make him a great fit for some of those teams in that area.

shouldnt we be focused on finding a dominant big man
rather than drafting another swingman?
